Big Bang and Girls’ Generation Voted as 2016’s Top Korean Groups

The two most amazing male and female Korean bands, Big Bang and Girls' Generation, got the top votes as 2016's most outstanding Korean groups. Hitting the K-pop history, these two iconic groups were voted by 30 experts in the Korean music industry. This panel of experts is consist of producers and music critics.

The survey aimed to look for South Korea's most influential groups in both male and female tastes. Instiz, a well-known Korean online community, revealed the results of the survey.

The famous male group, Big Bang, got 25 votes out of 30 panelists. The male category also lists such names as H.O.T. and TVXQ, being both second placers after earning 13 votes. Shinwa, EXO and SHINee followed the list as third placers in the said category. Sechs Kies and Super Junior also got the seventh place.

On the other hand, Girls' Generation, having 21 votes, top the list of the best female group in the K-pop scene. 2NE1 and Wonder Girls both got 11 votes each being second placers. S.E.S., the pop sensation of the '90s, got the fourth place on the list. This was followed with another tie in the fifth place by f(x) and BoA.

The Korean groups mentioned here are truly deserving for the amazing votes they received. It can be recalled that Big Bang was the first female group to land 100 million YouTube views. This made the group more powerful beating Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Direciton in the YouTube inaugural awards the girls' Video of the Year.

YG Entertainment's Bigbang is considered as the biggest boy band in Asia. According to Forbes report, this band "took home $44 million in pretax earnings over the past year, easily more than the $33.5 million collected by today's highest-paid American all-male arena pop group, Maroon 5."

It is really not surprising to have SM group and YG entertainment for topping the list in the K-pop arena. The Girls' Generation members are not only remarkable in the music scene. Each member also displays exquisite talent in acting, dancing, and even in musical theater.

Big Bang also soars in greater heights of success with G-Dragon's appeal in the fashion arena and T.O.P.'s increasing popularity in the fashion industry.
