'Train to Busan' had certainly drawn a few nervous breaths and tears from the people who have watched and the success of the film had ultimately placed Gong Yoo as one of the most sought-after actors of this generation (not that he isn't already in the first place). But if you missed seeing Gong Yoo in the big or small screen then you'd definitely be delighted to know that the 37-year old actor will be starring in a new fantasy-drama series titled 'The Lonely, Shining Goblin' which is set to be aired this coming December 2 on tvN.

You've seen Gong Yoo as a rich café owner in the hit TV series 'The Coffee Prince' and as a father who sacrificed his life for his daughter in 'Train to Busan' but in 'The Lonely, Shining Goblin, you will see the actor as a strange goblin living a sad and pitiful immortal existence who seeks to put an end to his seemingly endless life by finding a mortal bride. A short teaser video had already been posted by tvN on October 13 featuring Gong Yoo as the goblin Kim Sin.

Also leading the cast is another favorite actor and Korean Wave (Hallyu) star Lee Dong Wook who also starred in 'My Girl' and 'Scent of a Woman' among many others. The 31-year old actor will be playing the role of an amnesiac grim reaper (Angel of Death) who will sort of share a so-called 'bromance' with Gong Yoo's character as they share a home together and lead souls to the afterlife.

The series also features Kim Go-eun-I who plays a high school student and love interest to Gong Yoo's character, Yoo Inna playing an immature but sweet chicken shop owner and Yook Sung-jae who plays a chaebol her from a family that has taken care of the goblin for thirteen generations.

The Lonely, Shining Goblin will be spearheaded by the men who have brought you 'The Descendants of the Sun' and 'The Heirs', writer Kim Eun-sook and producing director Lee Eung-bok. Filming had begun on September 22.
