SM Entertainment Confirms This Girls' Generation Member's Solo Debut!

SONEs rejoice because another Girls' Generation member is set to make her solo debut at the start of 2017!

According to a report made by Koreaboo, a source directly from SM Entertainment itself has revealed that Girls' Generation member, Seohyun, will have her solo debut this January and with this announcement, she would in fact become the third member of her group to become a solo artist.

In light of these reports, SM Entertainment had released a statement regarding this and acknowledged that Seohyun will in fact be debuting as a solo artist. However, they did denounce reports that she will be debuting this January saying,

"The release date for Seohyun's solo album is still yet to be set. Once we have set a date, we will make sure to let all of you know."

There is a speculation that SME would try and work around the Lunar New Year so that there won't be any hindrances to Seohyun's promotions.

Seohyun first debuted with the rest of Girls' Generation and their former member, Jessica Jung, back in 2007. From their debut, Girls' Generation would go on to become one of the highest selling k-pop artists in the world and has become one of the main proponents for the Korean Wave (Hallyu). CNN even regarded them as the Asian version of the Spice Girls, the highest selling girl group of all time.

So if you think Seohyun's solo debut couldn't come too soon, her new web drama definitely will! As reported by Allkpop, Seohyun will star in the new web drama "Ruby Ruby Love" which would begin airing on January 18! The 25-year old singer-actress will play the role of a sociophobic genius woman who comes across a magic ring that would ultimately help her become a successful jewelry designer.

Seohyun has delved numerous times into acting so you can definitely expect her acting talent to shine in this new web drama!
