‘Dongju: The Portrait Of A Poet’: The Next Biopic Film Everybody Should Include In Their Watching List

"Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet" could be a film that gives a depiction of Korean's dark period as seen by a young poet Yun Dong Ju. The storyline is not the single thing that makes the film worth watching. The actor behind Yun Dong Ku, Kang Ha Neul, has proven his talent on portraying one of the most significant figures in the history of the nation.

"Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet" follows the story of Yun Dong Ju, a poet who lived under the oppression of Japanese colonial rules. His talent for writing had been acknowledged since he was younger. Yun Dong Ju even planned to publish his book of poems if the Japanese oppressor didn't stand in the way. Dong Ju and his cousin, Song Mong-Gyu (Park Jung Min) were imprisoned by the Japanese officials for taking part in the Korean Independent Movement. During his life in prison, Yun Dong Ju kept writing poems to pour his spirit and hope for his country's independence.

There are a lot of things that make "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet" is a must-see film, especially if you're a fan of a biopic film. Perhaps, the first thing that makes this film different than the most is its black-and-white vibe. While it might not be something that could grab one's attention, the black-and-white effect has successfully presented the most important cores in the film: the story, the acting, and the poetry.

It's understandable if viewers are hesitant at first before they decide to continue watching, but bear in mind, "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet" will not only give an entertaining point but also something that everyone can reflect on, or learn a lesson from. Yun Dong Ju's spirit to touch everyone's heart during a hard time could be something that people should learn. Not only that, Kang Ha Neul's singing at the end of the movie is like a sprinkle on top of a cake. The soundtrack can bring the entire movie together as well as leave a beautiful impression once the movie ends.
