2PM's WOOYOUNG Discharged Early Due To Military Protocol And COVID-19 Threat

2PM's Wooyoung has been reportedly discharged from his military service days earlier than it is supposed to be as part of the Korean military's protocol to combat COVID-19. 

His Agency JYP Entertainment announced its official statement t the press saying 

"Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.

On February 28, Wooyoung will be discharged safe and sound from the military service. We are preparing a thank you event to all his supporters who have been patiently waiting for Wooyoung on the day of his exit. However, due to recent Coronavirus spreading throughout the country, we decided to postpone the event due to high alerts and safety concerns for our fans and artist. 

We hope that HOTTEST who have been waiting for Wooyoung to understand and consider the situation and concerns. 

Wooyoung will communicate with his fans via V-life after his military discharge. Although he can't see you all in person He would like you to know that he is grateful to HOTTEST for waiting patiently to his comeback. 

We all ask his fans to continue their love and support to Wooyoung as he will be doing activities after his discharge.

Wooyoung is set to be discharged on February 28 but was discharged earlier due to the Ministry of National Defense's advise to fight the contamination of COVID-19 within the military.

As for the countermeasures, the military restricted all leave and visits for their military personnel. Those who are on ETS leave, they decided that they would be discharged early instead of ordering them to go back to their bases. Wooyoung was one of those cases. 

It was reported that Wooyoung enlisted in the military as an active-duty soldier in September 2018. He completed his duties as one of the members of the 21st Division in Yanggu, Gangwon Province. 

Jang Woo-young is a South Korean singer, songwriter, dancer and actor. He is a member of a famous boy band 2 PM, a six-membered group all managed under by JYP Entertainment. He is famous for his acting and singing role as Jason in the South Korean Drama Dream High. In 2009, he began to study broadcasting at Howon University. 

Wooyoung debuted as a member of 2 PM in their first single "10 points out of 10 Points" album and "Hottest Time of the Day" on September 4, 2008. By that time, they have already released six studio albums in Korea and four in Japan. They have accomplished their first single with "Again & Again".

2 PM consists of members Jun. K, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung their former leader Jaebeom officially left the band back in 2010. 

The history of 2 PM started when Park Jin Young formed an eleven-member and known as One Day, the band was divided int 2 PM and the other one was known as 2 AM. In .2011, the band released another Korean Album, "Hands Up". 

They also made their Japanese debut in that year with the Republic of 2 PM. After being on hiatus for a year, on June 15, made a comeback with their fifth studio album "No.5" 

After recent activities, since July 2017 the group has been on an official hiatus.
