13 K-Pop Groups Wherein All Members Had Their Solo Debut, Solo Song, or Solo Acting Career
Several popular K-pop groups are known for their combined synergy and individual skills, making them stand out the most. However, in a group, it is not impossible that a few members are shine more despite their different and unique talents, usually referred to as the "group's representative."
However, the following active groups that haven't disbanded yet are indeed praiseworthy for having members that are all solo artists! The members of these idol groups have their individuality, excelling either in the music or acting field after releasing official songs or thriving in their solo acting career. Talk about versatility!
1. TVXQ
TVXQ, comprised of members Changmin and Yunho, despite being a duo are also both solo artists. Changmin recently released his debul solo album "Chocolate," while Yunho had his Korean extended play "True Colors" in 2019. Both idols are actors, too!
2. Super Junior
Super Junior is composed of ten members: Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun. Every member released their solo songs, while Yesung, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun have their solo debut. On the other hand, Siwon established his solo acting career with Leeteuk and Shindong had set their respective hosting career.
3. BIG BANG
Kings of K-pop indeed! Aside from dominating the music industry as a group, every member, Taeyang, G-Dragon, T.O.P, and Daesung are all successful solo artists!
4. Girls' Generation
Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, Yoona, Yuri, Sooyoung, Tiffany, Seohyun, and Hyoyeon all had their solo debut album already, but Sunny has yet to release her solo singing album. However, she had released several solo songs for various Korean dramas and debuted solo as a musical actress.
5. SHINee
The Princes of K-pop are all solo artists as well! Starting with Taemin to the late Jonghyun also became a successful solo artist. In 2018 to 2019, Onew and Key released their solo debut albums, respectively. Meanwhile, Minho released his first solo song, "I'm Home," as well aside from being a successful actor with various films and dramas where he's the main lead.
6. INFINITE
INFINITE members are in particular enjoying their solo careers in music and acting field as well. Myungsoo, Sung Kyu, Dong Woo, Sung Jong and Woohyun all released their solo albums, while Sungyeol is known for his solo acting career.
7. BtoB
Every member of BtoB proves they are the vocal kings after releasing individual albums, including Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Changsub, Ilhoon, Hyunsik, Peniel and Sungjae.
8. EXID
EXID members, who are currently in hiatus as a group, are excelling in their solo careers. Solji and LE released their solo albums and solo EP, while Jeonghwa and Hyelin along with Hani also had their solo tracks, "Home" and "Foolish." This year, Hani starred in the web drama "XX," and it was an absolute success as it surpassed 7.5 million views!
9. EXO
With the confirmation of SM Entertainment that Kai will be debuting as a solo artist and with the release of Sehun and Chanyeol's solo tracks on July, all members of EXO are solo singers now! Xiumin, Chen, Lay, Baekhyun, and Suho already released their successful solo albums, while D.O also dropped his solo song, "That's Okay," aside from his successful solo acting career. 8 out ot 9 members have graced the acting arena, with Sehun being earlier reported to make his silver screen debut! Chen, on the other hand, remains the "King of OST" that his vocals have become a staple in Korean dramas.
10. BTS
BTS is also dominating the music scene with their solo debut and release. J-Hope, Suga, and J-Hope had released their mixtapes, while Jungkook, Jin and BTS V also kicked off in international charts will their respective solo tracks. In July, Jimin's "Promise" became the second most streamed song on SoundCloud, while V became the highest ever record for a male solo singer to have a song reach over 100 countries on iTunes!
11. MAMAMOO
Composed of members Wheein, Solar, Moonbyul and Hwasa, each unique member of MAMAMOO all debuted with successful albums! Hwasa recently dropped her solo album, "María," with the title track of the same name.
12. Red Velvet
Red Velvet members are also establishing their own careers, with solo tracks under their albums, solo OST, and solo acting careers such as Irene and Joy. Irene was recently confirmed to star in the upcoming movie "Double Patty."
13. WINNER
On August 13, YG Entertainment announced new solo albums plans for Mino and Seungyoon! Well, aside from the two, Jinwoo is also debuting as a solo artist on this day, August 14. While Seung Hoon is yet to release a solo album, he also released a solo track, "Flamenco." Moreover, Seungyoon is slated to make his acting comeback after three years in "Kairos"!
