Jin's Song "Moon" is The Longest-Charting BTS Solo Track on The MelOn Charts
We have another BTS member making history! On October 8, Thursday, it was announced that Jin's solo song, "Moon", is the longest-charting BTS solo song to chart on the MelOn charts in MelOn history!
As of October 7, Wednesday, it has stayed on the charts for 222 days and is currently ranked at #86. Additionally, it is the 10th longest-charting BTS song and the 4th longest-charting BTS B-side song in MelOn history! "Moon" has rarely left the weekly MelOn charts, charting for over 30 weeks since "Map of the Soul: 7" was released 33 weeks ago.
To celebrate Jin's achievement, fans have started trending #EverlastingMoon and #ChartsKingSeokjin on Twitter. ARMYs use the hashtag to congratulate Jin and inform fans of all the other achievements Jin and "Moon" have garnered.
Other than MelOn, "Moon" has also garnered achievements on other platforms. On iTunes, "Moon" hit number one on the charts in 104 countries. With that, the song hit number in 3 our of 8 biggest music markets in the world - the United States, Canda, France, and Australia. It charted within the top 10 in the United Kingdom and Japan with the highest sales in a single day for a BTS solo song. It also charted at number 2 in Italy. "Moon" is the first Korean song to chart at number one on the iTunes Dominica.
"Moon" has spent 44 days on the Worldwide iTunes Chart Top 200. It is the BTS song with the 3rd most iTunes Points for a solo song on the Worldwide iTunes Chart and is the second solo song with most #1s.
On the Gaon Charts, "Moon" has 189+ million points on the Gaon Digital Index and it keeps increasing, making it the second-highest BTS solo song in 2020 and the 3rd highest BTS solo song ever. "Moon" is the highest-charting BTS solo song on the Gaon Weekly Charts, spending 9 weeks and counting on the charts. It is the longest-charting BTS solo song in the top 100 of the Gaon Weekly charts.
On Genie, "Moon" has garnered 14 million streams and is the second BTS solo song to have achieved such a feat in 2020 and the 4th BTS solo song overall. The song itself has over 22 thousand likes, making it the second most likes BTS solo song in 2020 and the 5th most ever. "Moon" has recovered over 573 hours in Top 50 of the Genie Realtime Charts.
"Moon" has peaked at number two on the Billboard Worldwide Digital Sales Chart and stayed on the charts for seven weeks. It is the highest-charting BTS song on the Billboard Italian Digital Sales chart, peaking at number 3. It debuted at number one on the Hungarian Singles Chart, making it the second Korean song to do so. Rolling Stone named "Moon" as one of the "Greatest Boy Band Songs of All Time".
The song has been praised by numerous critics. The Grammy Panel praised Jin for his "silver voice" while MTV expressed being impressed over Jin's "powerhouse vocals". TIME Magazine said "Jin's bright tone, in particular, shines in delivering the bittersweet emotion of wrestling between holding on and letting go; the internal struggle described by the lyrics." Rolling Stone gave it the highest praise, saying, "'Moon' sums up everything that has made BTS massive."
