Former Wanna One Lai Kuanlin Embroiled in Dating Rumors

On Nov. 24, Lai Kuanlin received major backlash after footage of him smoking and spitting on the streets was posted on social media. Many people were not upset about him smoking. Instead, they were angered that he was spitting out the residue of his smoking onto the streets.
As the video continued to circulate, Lai Kuanlin issued an apology on his Weibo. He said that as a public figure, he demonstrated the wrong behavior. He said that he accepts the people's criticisms of him and that he will learn from his mistakes and not repeat them.

People are still upset, however. The singer's fansite shared alleged proof that the idol was in a relationship. They claimed that Lai Kuanlin had stopped posting daily life photos after posting that he went to a cat cafe and that it was done out of fear that people would visit the cafe he was in and ask the staff who he went with. It was also stated that the alleged girlfriend shared photos from a cat cafe at the same time the former Wanna One member did.
The fansite also found photos of Lai Kuanlin and the alleged girlfriend that was taken on the same sofa.
The alleged girlfriend is also said to have shared some couple videos on her TikTok account. One video shows her holding hands with someone. It is believed to be Lai Kuanlin since the man in the video is wearing the same shoes Lai Kuanlin was seen wearing in the past.
Lai Kuanlin is also accused of having a secret TikTok account which he uses to like his supposed girlfriend's videos. China's version of TikTok automatically updates to show the user's live location, and the fansite claims the locations match-up with Lai Kuanlin's schedules.
Lai Kuanlin soon released a handwritten apology to his Weibo concerning his smoking controversy and dating rumors. In his statement, Lai Kuanlin denies any rumors and states that he would tell his fans if he were to date, anyone. He also says that he is currently focusing on his career.
He said,
"As for my private life, if I ever have good news, I will for sure tell everyone right away. However, at this point in my life, I am making sure my career is my priority and am working hard."

Lai Kuanlin is a Taiwanese rapper, singer, and actor based in South Korea and China. He is mostly known for debuting in the project group Wanna One after competing on the Mnet survival show "Produce 101 Season 2" and finishing in seventh place. Following Wanna One's disbandment in 2018, Lai Kuanlin debuted in a project duo with PENTAGON's Wooseok.
He is currently active as an actor in China. He is most known for his role in the drama "A Little Thing Called First Love."
