TWICE Releases English Version of 'I Can't Stop Me'

Hit K-pop girl group TWICE has recently released the English version for their current title track "I Can't Stop Me," now available on all digital and music streaming platforms.

The Korean-language version of the track was first released on October 26, serving as the lead single for their second Korean studio album, "Eyes Wide Open." Exploring synthwave and disco-pop with 80's music elements, its tempo and melody give off a retro appeal. The music is paired with lyrics that discuss themes found in other TWICE singles: attempting to control and balance desires, but this time admitting the difficulty of trying to stop one's feelings hence the title, "I Can't Stop Me."

"We wanted to show a different side of us to ONCE with the English version of 'I CAN'T STOP ME,'" the nine-piece girl group said in an official statement. "We are always growing as a group, and love to keep our relationship with ONCE close to us and around the world!"

"I Can't Stop Me" also marks the group's second English single to be released worldwide, following "More and More" last August. The group's music, including their English-language tracks, is released by the group's label, JYP Entertainment, together with Republic Records.

Following the release of their latest English-language single, TWICE also made its highly-anticipated debut on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," performing the Korean version of the track on the show's virtual concert event, the #PLAYATHOME series.

TWICE first made its debut on October 20, 2015, with the EP "The Story Begins." In the same year, it has rapidly grown into a global phenomenon, taking the US and the rest of the world by storm. The group has graced the cover of Allure Magazine's May 2020 issue, as well as collaborating with American video game publisher Riot Games, collaborating with the virtual girl group K/DA from its popular "League of Legends" online game.

The nine members - Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Mina, Sana, Dahyun, Momo, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu - have enjoyed positive public reception, regularly included in the Gallup Korea survey for favorite idols. In 2017, TWICE was recognized as the third in Forbes Korea's Power Celebrity, leading all recording artists on the list.

Their recent release prior to "Eyes Wide Open," the Korean EP "More and More," smashed their previous records and became the highest-selling girl group album on the Gaon Album Charts. A local news outlet reported that pre-order sales surpassed 500,000 copies by May 27, ahead of its scheduled June 1 release. With more than 260,000 copies sold on Hanteo, a Korean music chart, TWICE broke the record at the time for the highest first-day sales for a Korean girl group.

Eyes Wide Open

"I Can't Stop Me" serves as the lead single for the group's second Korean-language, and fourth overall, studio album "Eyes Wide Open." It was released on the same day as its lead single, coinciding with the week of the group's fifth anniversary.

Upon its release, "Eyes Wide Open" managed to hit the top five on the all-genre list of iTunes US Albu Sales Chart and debuted at number 8 on Billboard's World Albums Chart, with its lead single debuting in the top 10 of the all-genre iTunes US Song Sales Chart. Additionally, "Eyes Wide Open" has also secured spots in the UK, Finnish, Japanese, and South Korean album charts.
