LOOK: Aespa’s Backup Dancer Looks Just Like (G)I-DLE Soojin
Aespa's background dancer turns heads for her uncanny resemblance to (G)I-DLE member Soojin. Keep on reading to see it for yourself!
On Dec. 11, KBS's "Music Bank" released the performance video of Aespa performing their debut song "Black Mamba". The girls once again caught the eyes of viewers with their professional attitude, their charisma, and their impressive facial expressions. And they are only rookies! With their outstanding talents and skills, Aespa is slowly making a name for themselves as K-pop's latest "It Girls."
This stage in particular drew in quite the number of viewers due to member Karina's upgraded visuals. The female rookie has dyed her hair black (when she originally started promoting with denim blue hair) and now has see-through bangs. While many people flocked to see the female idol's new look, they were able to see another thing that was just as surprising.
While they were dancing, a backup dancer behind Karina caught the attention of viewers. Why? Because of her uncanny resemblance to (G)I-DLE member, Soojin! The backup dancer was only seen for a moment before being covered by the members of Aespa and the other dancer, but that moment was all it took for people to notice her.
Just like Soojin, the backup dancer has a small, rounded face, plump lips, and even has the same flat bangs as the (GI-DLE member! People are now dubbing the back-up dancer as Soojin's "twin". Many even said that they look more alike than ITZY's Chaeryeong and IZ*ONE's Chaeyeon... and they are actual sisters!
Some people have joked that perhaps because of the low salary CUBE Entertainment give their artist, Soojin took matters into her own hands and is now working part-time as a back-up dancer for Aespa.
Some people had negative things to say about the unknown dancer, however. Some stated that she looked lazy while she was dancing, not hitting the moves as sharp as her fellow back-up dancer and having a lifeless expression while dancing. Still, though people say she was not as good at dancing as those around her, she still attracted attention for looking just like Soojin.

(G)I-DLE announced this month (Dec.) that they are currently preparing for a comeback in mid-January 2021. Prior to this, the CUBE Entertainment girl group held an online fan meeting titled "(G)I-DLE Official Fan Club Neverland 2nd Fan Meeting 'GBC in the Neverland'", which was broadcast through Global Interpark. GBC stands for "(G)I-DLE Broadcast Club".
The group's last musical release was in August with "Dumdi Dumdi," which became the second-best-selling girl group single album in history. Later that month, members Soyeon and Miyeon reprised their role in K/DA for the song "More."
Aespa is SM Entertainment's first girl group since Red Velvet, which debuted in 2014. The group released "Black Mamba" on Nov. 17 and, as of press time, are still actively promoting the single. They previously made headlines for their unique concept of having virtual counterparts to their members.
