WJSN Sub-Unit CHOCOME Wins Idol Unit Category in the '2021 First Brand Awards'

Since their debut earlier this year, WJSN's subunit CHOCOME has been garnering a lot of attention, recently recognized at the 2021 First Brand Awards' "Idol Unit" Category.

With this award, CHOCOME is chosen as the K-Pop unit to lead in the coming 2021. Organizers behind the First Brand Awards commended the four members -  Luda, Soobin, Dayoung, and Yeoreum - for their performances and express optimism for the subunit's potential.

The Korea First Brand Awards is an annual recognition of South Korea's best brands. While it is primarily an awards event for business and marketing, it has also grown to include culture and entertainment entities - acknowledging their contributions in bringing South Korea to the rest of the world.

CHOCOME is the first sub-unit of the South Korean - Chinese girl group WJSN, under their respective agencies Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment. The four-piece unit has taken a direction apart from the dreamy image that WJSN has created, presenting instead a cute and energetic appeal to the fans.

The WJSN unit first made its debut with the single-album "Hmph!" released last October, being a successful and popular takeoff for the quartet. The single, which features a lighter concept, showcases the group's unique charm. During their promotional activities, CHOCOME enjoyed increasing attention from the local and international audience with their collaborations with Moon Seyoon, Norazo, and Kim Youngchul.

As a testament to its immediate popularity, the CHOCOME debut single has inspired the viral "HMPH! Challenge" where people try to dance to the chorus of the fun and upbeat chorus of the song. It has spread across social media and even saw fan requests on the idols' fan meet and signing events.

CHOCOME's debut even caught the attention of US publication Forbes, which praised the energy and the cuteness that filled the track. A review of "Hmph!" also noted how all its members shone brightly in the equally colorful concept, visible in its music video and their succeeding promotional activities.

On a side note, CHOCOME is active in various fields including music, acting, and entertainment.
