SHINee Reported To Be Preparing For February Comeback + SM Entertainment Comments

Calling the attention of Shawols - SHINee is confirmed to return to the K-pop scene soon with new music!

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, SportsToday reported that SM Entertainment's boy group is set to make its comeback in February. SHINee's return was previously teased at SMTOWN's recent online concert, which took place on Jan. 1. A special video was played during the event, showing SHINee and their comebacks the past years from their 2008 song "Replay" to their 2018 track "Our Page."

What made the fans more excited is the part where the year 2021 was zoomed out in the video, and Minho's notable "SHINee's back" whisper was heard. Since then, Shawols (SHINee's fan club) have been looking forward to hearing new music sung by the group.

In response to the report of SHINee making a comeback in February, SM Entertainment commented that the boy band is currently preparing a new album. And that the comeback date will be announced when everything has been accomplished.

This will be SHINee's first comeback after three years since their 2018 album "The Story of Light: Epilogue." The boy band was inactive the past years due to members Onew, Key, and Minho enlisting in the military.

Onew was the first SHINee member to begin his mandatory military service in December 2018. While he was an active-duty soldier, he joined the military musical titled "Shinheung Military Academy," as well as the musical "Return: The Promise of That Day" along with EXO's Xiumin. He completed his military service in July 2020.

Key applied for military band service and got accepted in January 2019. He then enlisted two months after, March 4, which was the same day his repackaged version of "Face," titled "I Wanna Be," was released. The album contains the title track, also called "I Wanna Be," which features (G)I-DLE's Soyeon. He took his final military leave on Sept. 24, 2020, and was officially discharged on Oct. 7. The idol later returned as a fixed cast member of tvN's "Amazing Saturday."

After completing his basic military training, it was revealed that he received an excellence award. Also, he was reported to have used his final leave to train his junior soldiers instead of taking a break. Minho finished his military service in November 2020.
