TWICE Jeongyeon Makes Surprising Return to Group Activities at 30th Seoul Music Award

On Sunday, Jan. 31, Jeongyeon appeared with TWICE to perform at The 30th Seoul Music Awards. This is the first time Jeongyeon has appeared with TWICE since the announcement of her hiatus in Oct. 2020.
Where Has Jeongyeon Been?
Back in Oct. 2020, JYP Entertainment released a statement stating that Jeongyeon would not be participating in promotions for "Eyes Wide Open." The company released the statement just weeks before the album dropped.
In the statement, they reveal that Jeongyen has been struggling with psychological anxiousness revolving around her promotional schedules with TWICE.
After lengthy discussions with Jeongyeon and the other members of TWICE, it was decided that Jeongyeon needed to take time to seek professional medical help and to focus on her mental well-being.
Despite her absence from group activities, the company asked fans to continue loving and support Jeongyeon as she seeks recovery. The company ensured fans that Jeongyeon would return soon.
Since then, Jeongyeon has not appeared nor participated in any TWICE activities. The TWICE member did not perform "I CAN'T STOP ME" on any music or award shows. She also did not appear in any fan meeting or live broadcast. The only update fans got concerning Jengyeon is a photo her sister shared during Jeongyeon's birthday, and when Jihyo showed off that she was video calling Jeongyeon after the pre-filming of KBS Gayo Daechujke.

TWICE Jeongyeon Has Returned!
JYP Entertainment did not announce that Jeongyeon would be making her return, which made her appearance a pleasant surprise for fans. Jeongyeon's appearance at The 30th Seoul Music Awards marks her first promotional activity in three months or 107 days.
She performed "MORE & MORE" and "I CAN'T STOP ME" with TWICE, making it the first time all nine members were present to perform the song. As it was Jeongyeon's first time performing the song live on stage, the performance is extra special to ONCEs.
Fans were also happy that Jeongyeon was able to appear with TWICE to accept their second award of the year, a Bonsang. Previously, the group won a bonsang for "MORE & MORE" at the Golden Disc Awards, but she was absent from that award ceremony. This marks the first time Jeongyeon has appeared in an awards show since her hiatus.

After the award show, Jeongyeon took to Instagram to greet the fans once more. She shared a selfie of herself alongside the caption "It was nice seeing you, ONCE." To celebrate Jeongyeon's return, fans trended "JEONGYEON" on Twitter in various countries and also started the hashtag "#ProudofYouJeongyeon."
