What Did the Radio Listener Say to Chenle? How Did Chenle Respond?

While Chenle was reading comments during the Wednesday, Feb. 17 airing of the radio show, he noticed from a listener who felt the need to point out that he had gained some weight. As he was hosting, Chenle decided to respond to the comment, saying that he will start dieting. He also revealed that he only eats 2 meals a day but will reduce his portion sizing.

He said, "Just now, someone commented that I had gained weight... I will start dieting tomorrow! Actually, I only eat two meals a day already. Starting tomorrow, however, I will only eat one meal a day!"

How Did Fans (NCTzens) React to the Comment on NCT Chenle's Weight?

Once word got out that a radio listener commented on Chenle's weight and that he had planned to reduce what he eats in a day drastically, fans were understandingly outraged. Many nads said that the radio listener didn't have to leave such a rude comment while Chenle was hosting. Others said that if they had wanted to express concern over Chenle's health, they could have done so in a way that was not offensive or triggering.

Many also pointed out that Chenle is 176cm (5'.9") tall. With his height, he should, at least, be 60kg heavy, if not more. However, he currently weighs 58kg, according to his profile. Chenle is only 19 years old, so he should not be undertaking any drastic diets.

In support of the Chinese idol, NCTzens trended the hashtag #YouDontNeedtoDietChenle on Twitter. Many are using the hashtag to flood Chenle with positive comments. People used the hashtag to show that Chenle is perfectly healthy and that he does not need to diet to look better. Others used the hashtag to highlight Chenle's positive attributes.

Chenle's Recent Activities

Chenle participated in the NCT super-project, NCT 2020, and promoted with NCT U in the song "From Home." He also joined NCT Dream for the song "Déjà Vu." The latter song was recognized by Metro for its youthful yet edgy sound and was hailed as one of the best K-pop comebacks of 2020.

Chenle has been the main host of "Yuedong Seoul" since Oct. 12, 2020. The radio show goes on air from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. KST. It is live-streamed on the TBS eFM 101.3MHz YouTube channel.
