Mnet 'Kingdom' Episode 2: Stray Kids Grabs First Place in 100-Second Performance Battle

Stray Kids has successfully scored the No. 1 spot for the 100-second performance battle as announced during Mnet "Kingdom" Episode 2!

On April 1, Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War" aired its first episode where the six competing groups - The Boyz, ATEEZ, BTOB, SF9, iKON, and Stray Kids - performed 100-second introductory stages. The performances were broadcasted live on Feb. 23 and the voting period took place from that day up to Feb. 27.

The participants that ranked third, fourth and fifth were also announced during the first episode. ATEEZ took the No. 5 spot with 504,215, SF9 grabbed the No. 4 spot with 533,458, and BTOB claimed the No. 3 spot with 540,621 spot.

On April 8, Mnet "Kingdom" Episode 2 was aired via Mnet's YouTube channel. During the broadcast, the groups who placed first, second, and sixth in the 100-second performance battle have been revealed.

For the preliminary round, which is the 100-second introductory stage, the prize for the first place is 1000 benefits and the freedom to decide the order of the lineup for the first official round of the show. The contestant in the first place will only receive benefits, which means the scores of the other teams will not be affected by their rankings.

In addition, the scores for the preliminary round is the sum of global participation (40% - 8000 points), expert evaluation (25% - 5000 points), self-assessment by performers (25% - 5000 points), and views of performance videos (10% - 2000 points).

During the second episode of Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War," Stray Kids has been announced as the winner in the 100-second introductory stage. The boy group recorded a total of 690,971 votes, and so they earned the 1000 benefits.

Stray Kids' result is about 120,000 votes ahead of The Boyz, who secured the No. 2 position with 573,026. And it is a whopping over 200,000 votes compared to the sixth placer, which is iKON who got 489,971 votes.

Mnet shared clips of the announcement of the winners via their YouTube channel. It can be seen that the groups were extremely surprised about the rankings for the 100-second performance battle as they predicted that iKON would take first place prior to the airing of the first episode.

However, Stray Kids' ranking (1st) was somewhat predicted after Mnet "Kingdom" Episode 1. On April 1, the full versions of the 100-second performances of ATEEZ, The Boyz, SF9, BTOB, iKON, and Stray Kids were uploaded to Mnet's YouTube channel.

On April 4, the performance video of Stray Kids' "MIROH" was leading in terms of views. The video gained more than five million views on that day. "MIROH" even entered the top 10 of YouTube's trending videos on April 2 with viewers coming from 14 overseas countries, showing Stray Kids' outstanding popularity outside of South Korea.

In an interview with the production crew, Stray Kids' Seungmin said that they will work hard to continue being a great team that can entertain many people and show their unique colors. Bang Chan, Stray Kids' leader, said, "We must try to remain in No. 1. STAY (Stray Kids' fan club) put us up like this, and let us protect this gift."
