BLACKPINK Garners 700 Million Digital Points on Gaon + 'The Album' Named One of the Top-Selling Albums in U.S.

BLACKPINK was not called the "Biggest Pop Band in the World" for nothing. As a matter of fact, the YG Entertainment-formed group continues to make waves on several music charts and online streaming platforms up to this writing, which include the Gaon and MelOn.

BLACKPINK Gets 700 Million Digital Points on Gaon and MelOn

It was revealed that BLACKPINK garnered a total of 700 million digital points on Gaon with "How You Like That." The latest feat also made it the fastest track released in 2020 by a female act to reach such a milestone.

Aside from "How You Like That," other songs that made it big on the said platform include "Lovesick Girls" with more than 527 million digital points, "On the Ground" by Rosé with over 100 million digital points and "GONE" with more than 61 million digital points.

"Lovesick Girls" also took the No. 7 spot in the 2021 Building Gaon Digital Annual Chart with a total of 196,043,396 points. BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" made it to the No. 34 spot while "On the Ground" by Rosé secured the No. 37 spot with a total of 117,453,171 and 110,412,772 points, respectively. "Gone," which is the B-side track of Rosé's "-R-" album got a total of 61,438,796 points.

BLACKPINK, also, continues its dominance on the MelOn daily chart.  Today, "On the Ground" by Rosé made it to the Top 10 again after nabbing the No. 7 spot. "Lovesick Girls" secured the No. 21 spot, "GONE" also by Rosé took the No. 47 spot and "How You Like That" settled in No. 55.

If that is not enough, "The Album" by BLACKPINK was also named as one of the best-selling female albums in the United States in 2021 so far. "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" dominated the list, followed by "folklore" and "evermore," which are both from Taylor Swift, in the second and third spots, respectively.

Other albums that became a hit in America are "My Savior" by Carrie Underwood, "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" by Lana Del Rey, "WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?" and "Don't Smile at Me" both by Billie Eilish.

BLACKPINK Close to Beating Justin Bieber's Subscriber Count

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is also closing to beat Justin Bieber, who is currently the most-followed artist on YouTube with more than 62.4 million subscribers. As of this writing, the official channel of the South Korean girl group has 60.1 million subscribers.

Yonhap reported that BLACKPINK holds the biggest number of subscribers in South Korea and the second most subscribed channel among global artists. YG Entertainment, previously, revealed that the group's official YouTube channel has accumulated a total of 17 billion views already.

Among the most popular videos of BLACKPINK on YouTube are "Kill this Love" with a total of 1.2 billion views and "DDU-DU DDU-DU" with more than 1.5 billion views as of late. In July 2020, the group was named the most-subscribed female artist on YouTube after beating Ariana Grande, who has a total of 47.7 million subscribers right now.
