What is a Sasaeng?

A sasaeng is an overly-obsessive fan who stalks and undertakes various behavior that involves invasion of the privacy of a K-pop idol or other personalities. The word is derived from the terms "sa" that means "private" and "saeng" meaning "life."

According to celebrity managers, well-known Korean stars may have between 500 to 1,000 sasaengs, 100 of which will actively follow them wherever they go.

In addition to this, Sasaeng fans would also commit criminal acts just to gain attention from the idols. These acts include visiting their homes or dorms and stealing their personal belongings and information.

EXO Sehun Shares He Gets 100 Calls Per Day from Sasaengs

On May 10, Sehun held an Instagram Live. He mentioned his fellow EXO members Chanyeol and Baekhyun, who are currently completing their mandatory military service. He said that both of them are doing well, although he has yet to call Baekhyun.

Everything was fine during the broadcast until EXO Sehun received a call from a sasaeng. The "Love Shot" rapper asked the fans to not call him.

He then revealed that he receives 100 calls a day from obsessive fans. However, he doesn't change his mobile phone number. The reason is that he still gets calls from them even if he changes his number, and he finds this more bothersome.

Sasaengs usually call a K-pop idol during a live broadcast to make sure that the celebrity's phone number they have in their contact list really belongs to them. It appears like EXO member Sehun is suffering the same situation.

Back in 2014, Sehun left a warning message for sasaeng fans on Instagram, which he said to be his first and last warning. He stated that if he continues to receive many text messages a day from them and if they keep on invading his social media accounts, he would not let it pass.
