Is Red Velvet's Joy Preparing For Her Solo Debut?

According to an exclusive release from Star News, Red Velvet member Joy is gearing up for her solo debut. The report states that the "Tempted" star is slated to drop her first solo album by the end of May.

If verified by SM Entertainment, this would make Joy the second member of Red Velvet to make her solo debut.

Joy's album will reportedly include remakes of other hit songs, but it is still unconfirmed what the exact contents of her album would contain.

In 2017, Joy released numerous OSTs for the tvN music-themed drama, "The Liar and His Lover," in which she also starred in. She released the songs "Yeowooya," "I'm Okay," "Your Days," "Shiny Boy," "Waiting For You," and "The Way to Me." In 2018, she released the OST "OMG!" for the drama "Tempted," which she also starred in.

In 2018, Joy released the song "Dream Me" with NCT's Mark. The song was included in the soundtrack for the KBS drama "The Ghost Detective."

In 2020, Joy released the solo OST "Introduce Me a Good Person" for the soundtrack of the tvN series "Hospital Playlist." The song was highly successful, reaching number one on multiple domestic music charts. Additionally, the song peaked at number five on Billboard Korea's K-Pop Hot 100 Chart and number six on the Gaon Digital Chart. The song surpassed 487 million Digital Index Points on Gaon.

"Introduce Me a Good Person" was nominated for the "Song of the Year (Daesang)" and "Best OST Award" at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs). The song was also nominated for "Best OST."

In Apr. 2021, Wendy made her solo debut with her first mini-album, "Like Water."

Back on May 10, 2020, Joy featured on Crush's song "Mayday." The song topped the charts on several Korean music charts. In 2016, Joy collaborated with NCT member and SM Entertainment labelmate Doyoung for the song "Last Christmas." That same year, she worked with BTOB member Yook Sungjae for the song "Young Love," which was dropped for the duo's appearance on MBC's "We Got Married."
