Source Music Releases Additional Statement Concerning GFRIEND's Departure

GFRIEND's management agency, Source Music, has released an additional statement regarding the departure of Sowon, Umji, Yerin, Yuju, Eunha, and SinB.

Source Music Issues Official Statement Regarding GFRIEND's Departure

On May 21, Source Music posted additional information about GFRIEND's departure from the company, on the fan community platform Weverse.

In particular, the company mentioned what would happen to the girl group's social media accounts after the members officially part ways with them, plus the refunds for fan club membership.

The agency first expressed their regret for causing concern to GFRIEND's fans with the sudden announcement of the conclusion of the members' exclusive contracts.

Source Music continued that they are aware of the concerns and requests sent by fans on the future management of GFRIEND-related content after the group officially part ways with them.

"We are striving to ensure that we can address these concerns as best as we can," the company said.

GFRIEND's agency then gave an overview of what has been finalized so far.

First, all existing social media accounts of GFRIEND, as well as the fan café and Weverse account, will continue to operate and the previous content will still be available. However, some functions including writing new posts will be suspended after a particular period.

Source Music will provide further notices about the SNS accounts of the "Mago" singers. The label then stated that fans will still be able to access GFRIEND-related content on the platforms in the future.

Regarding the refunds for BUDDY membership (BUDDY is the fan club name of GFRIEND), the agency said that it may take some time before fans receive their refunds as they are still preparing comprehensive measures. They will release detailed instructions for the refund process as soon as possible.

Lastly, Source Music addressed GFRIEND's fan sign event, which was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19. Fans who were chosen for the event will receive refunds from the company. BUDDYs may contact the event organizer (Kakao Entertainment) for more details.

Meanwhile, other GFRIEND IP-related services such as HYBE INSIGHT and SuperStar GFRIEND will continue until they come to a conclusion.

After mentioning these, Source Music stated that they are "acutely" aware of the distress and confusion of the fans because of the sudden announcement of GFRIEND's departure, which has eventually led to the girl group's disbandment.

Source Music added that the artists and the label worked until the very final stages of discussions on contract renewals.

"We are deeply regretful that we were not able to bring you the results you hoped for," the agency said.

GFRIEND's company then asked the fans to continue to give love and support to each member - SinB, Eunha, Sowon, Yuju, Umji, and Yerin - who will begin to take the first steps of their new journeys.

Source Music concluded their statement by saying that they will continuously support GFRIEND members to make sure that their first steps to their new career will be "filled with hope," and that they will be by their side for their future endeavors.

GFRIEND's exclusive contract with Source Music will officially end on Saturday, May 22, after six years.
