CUBE Entertainment is about to debut an eight-piece idol group, LIGHTSUM, their first girl group in three years since (G)I-DLE in 2018.
CUBE Entertainment's New Girl Group LIGHTSUM to Debut in June with First Single
On May 27 at midnight KST, LIGHTSUM dropped the first teaser image for their debut single via their official social media accounts.
The teaser photo shows cones of ice cream placed upside down and the title of their debut single, "Vanilla." According to the post, CUBE Entertainment's new girl group will release "Vanilla" online on June 10 at 6 p.m. KST, while the physical version will be out on June 11.
The group name LIGHTSUM means "bright LIGHTs will come together as one SUM" to reach people all over the world, transforming into a group that will deliver more positive energy to everyone through their message of hope.
(G)I-DLE's junior girl group will debut with eight members, namely Jian, Chowon, Juhyeon, Sangah, Hina, Nayoung, Huiyeon, and Yujeong. Some of the members are already familiar to many fans as they were participants in Produce 48 or The Unit.
Since the end of April, LIGHTSUM has been releasing pre-debut videos of them singing and dancing. These videos are song and dance covers and uploaded to CUBE Entertainment's YouTube channel.

Character films and interview videos have also been revealed so that fans can get to know more about the members before their debut. Furthermore, CUBE Entertainment's new girl group has shared two debut trailers.
More Details about the LIGHTSUM Members
Sangah will act as the rapper and lead dancer of CUBE Entertainment's new girl group. She is the oldest among the LIGHTSUM members, being born on Sept. 4, 2002.
Chowon will be the main vocal of LIGHTSUM. She is the same age as Sangah but is 12 days younger. Moreover, she is best known to be a previous participant in Mnet's "Produce 48," which formed the project girl group IZ*ONE, which disbanded this past April. It was revealed that Chowon would have been part of IZ*ONE.
Juhyeon will be the main dancer and lead vocalist of (G)I-DLE's junior girl group. She is known as a former contestant in the survival show "The Unit." She also competed in the show "Dancing High."

Nayoung will also be the main vocal and lead dancer of LIGHTSUM. Like Chowon, she also participated in "Produce 48." She was initially part of a pre-debut girl group under Banana Culture but their debut was canceled in 2019.
Hina will be another sub-vocal for CUBE Entertainment's new girl group. She is the only Japanese member.
Yujeong will be a sub-vocal for LIGHTSUM, as well. She is also a previous contestant in "Produce 48."
Huiyeon will also have the role of a sub-vocal in (G)I-DLE's junior girl group. She studied painting, ballet, and gymnastics.
Jian will be the rapper and sub-vocal of LIGHTSUM. She is the youngest member of the group.
