'Produce 48' Contestant Heo Yun Jin Reportedly Debuting in HYBE's Upcoming Girl Group

According to an exclusive report by Korean media outlet, Star News, on August 24 KST, former "Produce 48" contestant, Heo Yun Jin, is reportedly joining the member lineup for HYBE's upcoming girl group following her transfer from Pledis Entertainment to Source Music - both labels under HYBE.

Previously, it was reported that HYBE is preparing to launch a new girl group in collaboration with Source Music, and that the HYBE and Source Music are working on recruiting two to three former members of the "Produce 48" debut group, IZ*ONE, as part of the debut lineup.

Media outlets reported that former IZ*ONE and HKT48 member Miyawaki Sakura, and former fellow IZ*ONE member Kim Chae Won, are included in the upcoming girl group's lineup. Netizens also suspect that another former IZ*ONE member, Kim Min Joo, would be joining the group.

According to reports, Miyawaki Sakura joining the group is still under discussion, but a Japanese media outlet has also reported that the former IZ*ONE member had already signed an exclusive contract with HYBE. She will also be returning to South Korea on August 27, KST, although her original arrival was said to be back on August 23. With her return, netizens are anticipating her future activities in the country and bringing in the possibility that she will be signing with HYBE.

With Heo Yun Jin reportedly joining, HYBE and Source Music's new girl group now has two confirmed members, following Kim Chae Won, who left Woollim Entertainment and moved to Source Music at the end of June.

Heo Yun Jin was born in 2001 in South Korea and is currently 20 years old (21 years old in Korean age). Although she was born in South Korea, Heo Yun Jin grew up in the United States. Back in 2017, she auditioned for Pledis Entertainment during an audition held by the label in New York. She eventually passed the audition and became a trainee under Pledis Entertainment in January 2018.

In the same year, she participated in the third installment of Mnet's popular reality-survival series through "Produce 48," to which she finished at 26th place.

Meanwhile, media outlets reported that HYBE and Source Music's new girl group will consist of five to six members and is expected to include former IZ*ONE members, with the rest being trainees under Source Music.
