The British Guinness World Records announced recently that BTS has been inducted into its "Hall of Fame." The hall of fame lists those who hold the most iconic records up to date.

BTS Makes it to the Guinness World Records 'Hall of Fame'

For the first time, BTS met the historic moment of being included in the Guinness Hall of Fame as a Korean Artist.

Since their debut, BTS established itself in the music industry by making unbeatable steps in music. The boy group has elevated the status of K-Pop by achieving notable records all over the world from 2020 until now.

BTS holds a total of 23 new Guinness World Records. Beginning with being "the first K-Pop singer to top the US album chart in 2018," "the group with the most streaming on Spotify," "the group with the most Twitter activity (average number of retweets)," and "group with the most Instagram followers" are among the records by the boy group.

The "Bang Bang Con Live," an online concert held in June 2020, has set a record for being "the most watched live streaming music concert."

The record for "Butter" - which was released last May - is also impressive. It achieved "Most streamed song on Spotify within the first 24 hours of release," "Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours," and "Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours among K-Pop groups." Guinness World Records stated that BTS has made a mark in the cultural world nowadays.

BTS Dominates US Billboard Charts

BTS not only made it on to the Guinness World Records, but also they made the cut on the US Billboard record as well. "Butter" has been maintaining its spot on the Top 10 for 14 consecutive weeks since its entry, and also its spot on the Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100" on the latest chart. "Permission to Dance" has also been listed on the "Hot 100" chart for the 7th week.

The "Hot 100" chart ranks singles by synthesizing streaming, music sales, and radio broadcasts. It is considered an indicator of the most popular songs in the United States.

BTS' Undeniable Global Popularity

The records have proven that BTS has finally taken over the mainstream music market in the United States, which is said to have a high barrier. Their global K-Pop market's influence is really enormous.

According to the global music consultation group REELs Corporation, Inc., BTS has taken first place in the total K-Pop artist survey from January to July. The total number of K-Pop artists scored around 3,244,492, while BTS alone scored 1.42 million points, accounting for 44.01% of the total K-Pop genre in the United States. The chart was compiled in early July. If ever the scores of "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" are added, the proportion of BTS is expected to go higher.

REELS Corporation, Inc. evaluated that the K-Pop genre as a whole is progressing by 15% annually in the US music market and that K-Pop's position grows rapidly, however, it is highly dependent on a specific artist. There are still aspects that cannot secure the safety of musical genres in the global market.
