Wanna One Halts Pre-Recording for 2021 MAMA Reunion Stage Following Staff Testing Positive for COVID-19

The pre-recording for Wanna One's upcoming performance at the 2021 MAMA has been halted after a staff member tests positive for COVID-19.

Wanna One Halts Pre-Recording for 2021 MAMA Reunion Stage

On December 10 KST, officials of the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) announced that the pre-recording for Wanna One's reunion performance has been halted after a staff member was found to be positive for the COVID-19.

"One of the artist's staff who participated in the rehearsal for the pre-recording of 2021 MAMA has been diagnosed with COVID-19," officials said.

Following the confirmation that the staff is COVID-19 positive, Wanna One and all other staff members present and who have been in contact with the patient underwent a testing for the virus. Hence, all rehearsals and pre-recording were halted, and all of the people who gathered to watch the performance were also sent home.

"On December 10 KST, one of the artist's staff who participated in the rehearsal for the pre-recording of 2021 MAMA was diagnosed with COVID-19. Accordingly, rehearsal were suspended for the safety of all artists and staff, and all the spectators who were in-line waiting to enter for the pre-recording stage were sent home.

All of the staff and artists who participated in the rehearsal together will be preemptively tested for COVID-19. The place where the confirmed person has been in has also been disinfected.

We will do our best to ensure that the event can be held safely by thoroughly following the government's prevention guidelines for COVID-19."

Meanwhile, the "Produce 101"-formed boy group Wanna One is set to give a special stage for this year's awards ceremony as they perform a new version of their hit song "Beautiful."

This marks the first time the Wanna One members will be performing as a whole group once again, following their disbandment back in December 2018.

Unfortunately, Lai Kuan Lin is unable to participate in the reunion stage as he is currently busy with his individual activities and is not actively promoting in South Korea.

Despite that, the remaining 10 members: Yoon Ji Sung, Ha Sung Woon, Ong Seong Wu, Hwang Min Hyun, Kang Daniel, Kim Jae Hwan, Park Woo Jin, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Dae Hwi, and Bae Jin Young, have reunited despite their respective busy schedules.

When is the 2021 MAMA?

The 2021 MAMA will be held on Saturday, December 11, with the red carpet beginning at 4pm and the ceremony at 6pm KST.

The awards ceremony will also present performances from top K-Pop groups such as NCT 127, NCT U, NCT DREAM, ITZY, TXT, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, aespa, Brave Girls, ENHYPEN, INI, JANNABI, JO1, Lee Hyori, Wanna One, the "Street Woman Fighter" dance crews, and British singer Ed Sheeran.

The event will also be broadcasted worldwide through Mnet and their official Youtube channels Mnet TV, M2, Mnet K-POP, and KCON Official.
