ITZY achieves a new milestone in their career as their hit "WANNABE" music video reaches 400 million views on YouTube, making them the first 4th-generation K-pop group to do so.

ITZY's 'WANNABE' Hits 400 Million Views, First MV by 4th-Gen Group to Reach the Mark

ITZY's "WANNABE" music video, from their second mini-album "IT'z ME," released on March 9, 2020, surpassed 400 million YouTube views at 7:48 AM on December 21. Because of this, ITZY became the first 4th generation K-pop group to reach the milestone.

JYP Entertainment posted a photo on their official SNS channel in celebration of ITZY's new achievement. Upon posting, MIDZYs all over the world showed their enthusiastic support to the girls.

"WANNABE" is a song that conveys the message of "one and only me" to show one's personality without being hindered by the judgment of other people. The lyrics, along with energetic melody, make the listeners dance to the beat especially with its iconic shoulder choreography and dance break.

The music video features the members' free and natural appearance. Aside from that, the song fully utilized ITZY's candid and dignified charm. The girls are also shown to be enjoying a sense of freedom.

To make the music video even more remarkable, the girls performed powerful choreography. The iconic "shoulder dance" choreography became a dance challenge on TikTok.

Furthermore, ITZY's "WANNABE" is the fastest song from JYP Entertainment girl groups to reach the mark in just 652 days, surpassing four of TWICE's songs, "LIKEY," "TT," "Fancy," and "What is Love?"

More Achievements for ITZY

On November 20, ITZY's first regular album title song "LOCO" music video exceeded 100 million views along with "Not Shy" and "MAFIA (In the Morning)."

On the other hand, their songs "DALLA DALLA" and "ICY" now have over 200 million views.

ITZY created another legendary performance during the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards, last December 11. They performed their latest songs "MAFIA (In the Morning)" and "LOCO" during the awards show. 

Moreover, ITZY made a collaboration performance with Korean actor Heo Sung Tae, featuring an action-movie-like theme. Their performance became a hot topic all over the world. The video of the performance reached over seven million views on YouTube since its release.

Their performance video still holds the record of having the most views among other stage performances of 2021 MAMA, which are uploaded on Mnet's official YouTube channel Mnet K-POP.

On December 22, ITZY will release their Japanese album "IT'z ITZY" and make their official debut. Before that, they held the Japanese debut online live "ITZY JAPAN DEBUT SHOWCASE "IT'z ITZY" at 6 PM (KST) last December 18. The quintet communicated with MIDZYs all over the world through the debut showcase, which ignited the excitement for their upcoming debut in Japan.
