The agency shared that over 50,000 aspiring idols auditioned to take part in their debut project. The auditions were held in Japan, the United States, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Nonaka Shana came to Korea in 2019 from Fukuoka, Japan. She was a representative of MLD Entertainment on Mnet's "Girls Planet 999" and was known for being an all-rounder during her time in the show. She was nominated for Top 9 in episode 11 and managed to take seventh place.

On Dec. 21, MLD Entertainment shared a video of Shana's cover of IU's "My Sea" on its official YouTube channel. This appears to mark the start of their debut promotions for the Japanese trainee.
