Here's Why STAYC Sieun Teared Up upon Meeting IU Backstage at 2021 MMA
On Dec. 22, IU shared a new video on her YouTube channel, titled "I will you the story about MMA as I made other singers cry."
The almost 13-minute video features the "Celebrity" the behind-the-scenes moments at the time she attended the 2021 MMA, where she performed her latest songs "LILAC," Strawberry Moon" and "Celebrity" at this year's MelOn Music Awards. This is her first time in four years to appear at the said music awards.

In the middle part of the video, STAYC paid a surprise visit to IU in her waiting room to congratulate the female idol for winning multiple awards at the event. This part captured STAYC member Sieun bursting into tears.
Surprised about Sieun's reaction, IU exclaimed, "Oh gosh, don't cry" while handing the rookie idol a tissue. "Why are you crying? Oh dear, oh dear," she continued.
Among STAYC's fans, Sieun is known to be a diehard UAENA (an IU fan). She has covered IU's songs in the past, often talks about her in interviews, and even owns some IU merchandise.
In an interview video uploaded to 1theK's YouTube channel, STAYC Sieun shared that she once met IU in a dream. She said that the female soloist enjoyed a meal with her and her friends.

At the 2021 MMA, Sieun's dream has become a reality, and so she eventually cried upon meeting IU, her idol, in person because of her overflowing happiness.
After greeting each other, IU sweetly sent STAYC off to finish their work for the day, get their makeup done and get some rest. She also brightened up the girls' day by doing a part of the choreography of the girl group's latest song "ASAP." She also said that she'll listen to the sextet's album well.
After STAYC left the waiting room, IU shared that she had known about Sieun's admiration for her before meeting her.

STAYC Takes Home an Awards from 2021 MMA (MelOn Music Awards)
On Dec. 4, the 2021 MMA was held online, broadcast live on 1theK's YouTube channel. The winners of the awards show were based on MelOn's user data, votes, expert scores and more.
One of the winners is STAYC, who received the "1theK Original Contents" award. This marks the girl group's first time winning at MMA.

The sextet was also nominated in other categories for the 2021 MMA. They were candidates for "Best Female Group," "Netizen Popularity Award," "New Artist of the Year" and "Top 10 Artist." Unfortunately, they failed to take home these titles.

Meanwhile, STAYC performed their latest songs "ASAP" and "STEREOTYPE" at the MelOn Music Awards. "ASAP" is the title track of the group's second single album "STAYDOM," while "STEREOTYPE" is the title song of the band's first mini-album of the same name.
