BTS V Becomes the First Korean Solo Artist to Chart on the UK's Official Charts with an OST
V sets a record as a solo artist on the Official Charts in the United Kingdom with his OST, "Christmas Tree."

BTS V Becomes the First Korean Solo Artist to Chart at No. 2 on UK's Official Charts with 'Christmas Tree'
On January 2 local time, the Official Charts, which is the United Kingdom-equivalent of United States' Billboard charts and one of the two major music charts in the world, announced the latest weekly ranking of their charts.
In particular, BTS member V recently lent his voice for the ongoing SBS drama "Our Beloved Summer," where he sang one of the drama's OSTs called "Christmas Tree."
The song was officially released through major music streaming platforms back on December 24. Immediately after the release of "Christmas Tree," it went on to chart within the Top 100 of Gaon's Digital chart at No. 84.
Over on the Official Charts, "Christmas Tree" took a spot on the Official Singles Sales Chart and the Official Singles Download Chart, with the song placing at No. 2 on both charts at the same time.
This also marks the BTS member as the first Korean solo artist to achieve such a high feat with only an OST, as previous Korean artists who charted on the Official Charts are through their own music releases.

Aside from charting high on the Official Charts, "Christmas Tree" also became the top-selling Korean solo song on Amazon's Best Selling Songs of 2021, with the OST entering the chart at No. 97. In addition, "Christmas Tree" is the only Korean solo song part of the list.
The Amazon chart counts song sales in the United States for the entire year of 2021, in which "Christmas Tree" entered the chart after only seven days since the song's release.
Meanwhile, "Christmas Tree" also marks V's third OST, with his first one being "It's Definitely You," which he sung alongside fellow BTS member Jin for his KBS debut drama "Hwarang."
V also sang an OST for "Itaewon Class" called "Sweet Night," in which fellow Wooga Squad member and close friend Park Seo Joon starred in.
V singing "Christmas Tree" for "Our Beloved Summer" could also be because of Choi Woo Sik, who is another fellow Wooga Squad member and close friend who is starring the in the drama.

Back on December 6, all seven members of BTS surprised fans when they launched their individual Instagram accounts, with some of them even creating new records.
This time on January 2, V has surpassed 30 million followers on his account, making him the first BTS member to do so. He previously broke two Guinness World Records, as he became the fastest K-Pop artist to hit one million and 10 million followers in the shortest amount of time.
