Will Former AOA Jimin Remain Under FNC Entertainment? Company Reveals the Idol's Contract Status

FNC Entertainment has revealed the status of the exclusive contract of former AOA member Jimin.

FNC Entertainment Announces the Status of Former AOA Jimin's Exclusive Contract

On Jan. 13, AOA's management agency FNC Entertainment released an official statement to announce the standing of Shin Jimin's exclusive contract.

In the statement, the company stated that as of Jan. 12 this year, former AOA Jimin's exclusive contract with them has come to an end. This means the idol will officially part ways with the label.

FNC Entertainment then expressed their gratitude to Shin Jimin, who was active as a singer under the agency for the past nine years.

They then asked the fans to continue sending support and encouragement to the former AOA member for her future activities.

Shin Jimin becomes the fifth AOA member to leave FNC Entertainment, following Youkyung, Mina, Yuna, and Choa. As of writing, only Hyejeong, Seolhyun, and Chanmi are signed under the agency. It is uncertain whether AOA would disband or continue as a trio with only three band members left.

Jimin has been an artist under FNC since she made her debut as a leader of AOA in 2012 with the single album "Angels' Story." She was also a member of the group's sub-unit AOA Black, formed in 2013.

Shin Jimin was an AOA member until July 2020, when she decided to leave the group and halt her activities in the entertainment industry after her former bandmate Kwon Mina accused Jimin of bullying her for 10 years that she was still part of the band.

Since leaving the group, former AOA Jimin went silent on social media for a year and a half. But, she recently returned to Instagram on her birthday to share a new solo song with the fans.

Former AOA Jimin's Solo Activities While Still under FNC Entertainment

Former AOA member Jimin began her solo activities in early 2015 when she competed in the rap competition TV show "Unpretty Rapstar," a spin-off of "Show Me the Money."

During her time in "Unpretty Rapstar," Shin Jimin dropped a few collaboration songs, including "T4SA" with Nuck and MC Meta and "Good Start" with 2AM Seulong (which peaked at No. 2 on the Gaon Digital Chart).

In April 2015, former AOA Jimin dropped a collaboration single, titled "God," with rapper J.Don. It is part of FNC Entertainment's N Project. The track was accompanied by a music video based on Game of Thrones.

The following year, Shin Jimin made her solo debut in March with the single "Call You Bae" featuring EXO Xiumin. The single serves as the first installment of the idol's solo project "#OOTD (Outfit of the Day)."

Jimin's next solo release was in October 2017, a digital single titled "Hallelujah." This song was released in collaboration with the magazine W Korea. Her solo release is "Hey," her second collaboration with W Korea.

On Jan. 28, 2018, former AOA member Jimin, alongside her bandmate Yuna, sung "If You Were Me," which was used as the OST for tvN's "A Korean Odyssey."
