Samuel Kim Parts Ways With Brave Entertainment After 3 Years of Legal Battle

On January 13, KST, it was reported that Samuel Kim had recently reached an amicable agreement after a long discussion with his former label Brave Entertainment.

Back in November 2021, Samuel Kim had won a lawsuit to confirm the non-existence of an exclusive contract with Brave Entertainment, which eventually led to their legal dispute regarding their contract to end.

Regarding his departure from his longtime label, Samuel Kim said, "The last three years of court proceedings were difficult, but it was a time where I thought a lot and learned a lot."

He also asks for fans' support, and that he will do his best to start again. "I would like to ask you to support me as an adult and greet me as an adult. I will do my best to live with the heart of starting over. Thank you," Samuel Kim said.

On the same day, Brave Entertainment also issued an official statement regarding the idol's departure from the label, stating, "After a long discussion with Samuel Kim, we have decided to end the misunderstanding and reach an amicable agreement."

Samuel Kim's Lawsuit Win Against Brave Entertainment

Samuel Kim had filed a lawsuit for non-existence of an exclusive contract with Brave Entertainment back in 2019, citing reasons such as the signing of the wrong contracts and issues related to settlements after being with the label since 2014.

The Seoul Central District Court had ruled in favor of the idol, and dismissed Brave Entertainment's counterclaim for damages worth one billion won (around $846,300 USD).

"We confirm that the exclusive contract signed between the plaintiff (Samuel Kim) and the defendant (Brave Entertainment) on June 9, 2014 is not valid, and the request for a counterclaim made by the defendant is dismissed," the presiding judge at the time stated.

Following Samuel Kim's lawsuit win in November, the label announced their plans to file an appeal, and shared their own side to the story.

However, two months after the court ruling and the supposed appeal, it seems Brave Entertainment did not push through, and has agreed to end their legal dispute with Samuel Kim.

With that, Samuel Kim also announced his plans to resume his career in the entertainment industry as a solo artist and an all-around entertainer beginning this year.

Regarding music releases, he has yet to share further details.
