Mnet Unveils Teaser for 'Queendom' Season 2 - 'Queen is Back'

On February 3, Mnet released a teaser for season two of "Queendom," which was aired in 2019 on Mnet's YouTube channel. Queendom got a lot of attention for being an intense girl group competition program. It consists of six active K-pop female groups that will compete with one another to determine the "No.1" K-pop girl group.

When "Queendom" ended successfully, Mnet also aired a male counterpart, "Kingdom," in 2021.

This year will herald the return of "Queendom" with its season two. It has a brand new lineup, and a new emcee, which is Girls' Generation's Taeyeon.

Sometime in February, the filming for the second season will begin.

Mnet Set To Launch More Sequels in 2022

This year is set to be a big year for Mnet. The channel plans to launch more sequels to its famous programs.

The first show to be aired this year is season two of "Queendom." It also revealed that a new season will be aired in March, but it has not revealed which K-pop girl groups will be competing.

The first season of "Queendom" has been a big hit. The K-pop female groups featured in the program were MAMAMOO, Lovelyz, AOA, (G)I-DLE, OH MY GIRL, and Park Bom. The artists were brought into the spotlight for their awesome performances.

Moreover, (G)-IDLE made huge waves on a lot of music streaming charts with "Lion," which was a single premiered in the show. Aside from that, OH MY GIRL has been gathering attention for its unique reinterpretation of Lovelyz's song in 2018 "Destiny."

Furthermore, the success of "Queendom" has been the reason for the creation of its versions for men "Road to Kingdom" aired in 2020, and "Kingdom: Legendary War" aired in 2021. Both of the programs enjoyed massive popularity in the K-Pop world.

Next in line is the male version of Mnet's latest hit, "Street Woman Fighter," it is scheduled to air in the second half of 2022 as well. It will feature some of the most talented male dancers in Korea. The one who will lead the survival show is Kwon Young-chan, the chief producer of "Street Woman Fighter."

Mnet stated that more unconventional dancers would be taking the stage in the upcoming program. The TV channel did not reveal any names yet.

In 2021, "Street Woman Fighter" was one of the most shows who grabbed attention in the K-pop industry. Aside from that, dancers like Noze, Honey J, and Monika rose to stardom because of Mnet's survival programs. Furthermore, the eight dance crews from the program - Coca N Butter, PROWDMON, HOOK, LACHICA, HOLYBANG, WANT, WAYB, and YGX - are now holding a series of sold-out concerts in Korea.

Lastly, Mnet's hip-hop survival show, "Show Me the Money," is also geared up for its eleventh season. It will be hosted by Choi Hyo-jin, who directed the program since its fourth season. Last December 3, 2021, the tenth season ended with rapper Jo Gwang-il being crowned as the winner.
