"Queendom 2" episode 1 has finally aired and viewers get to see nostalgic performances of iconic songs by SISTAR and GFRIEND from Hyolyn and VIVIZ.

On March 31, Mnet officially broadcasted the much-awaited first episode of "Queendom 2," which is the second season of the reality TV show "Queendom." This new edition features six contestants such as Hyolyn, LOONA, Brave Girls, Kep1er, VIVIZ, and WJSN. The hosts include Girls' Generation Taeyeon and Lee Yong Jin.

"Queendom 2" episode 1 started with an introduction ceremony, wherein each team made an entrance one after another and introduced themselves. The competitors also learned about the rules and what the final winner will receive as a prize in the end.
In particular, the "Queendom 2" winner will hold a comeback show that will be aired all around the world.

Later in the episode, the participants went on to begin the first round of completion. But before they proceeded with the first round, each team had to unveil who they picked as their rival.
While each group can cast one vote, Hyolyn can cast two votes as she is the only solo competitor in the show.

Hyolyn was revealed to have the most votes as both VIVIZ and WJSN chose her as their rival. Meanwhile, Hyolyn selected Kep1er, Kep1er chose LOONA, and LOONA picked WJSN.

Brave Girls, on the other hand, wasn't chosen by anyone. Brave Girls' Minyoung commented, "I wanted to earn at least one vote." Yuna added, "I thought that we would have to show a better image."

The mission for the first round of competition was to perform their most representative track.
LOONA was unable to participate in the first round as 11 of 12 members had tested positive for COVID-19, hence, they sit out filming their performance.

The first to perform was VIVIZ, who shared that they had a hard time choosing a song. During their preparation, SinB stated, "Like what we've always said, we're VIVIZ and GFRIEND so there's no reason to exclude GFRIEND songs."
Eventually, VIVIZ decided to perform GFRIEND's "Rough" and "Time for the Moon Night" during "Queendom 2" episode 1.

While watching them on stage, SinB's close friend WJSN's Eunseo was seen crying in the waiting room and shared, "SinB said she wasn't nervous, but it felt like watching myself in a situation where I was really nervous."
She continued, "Even though we're competitors, as a friend, I felt proud seeing her complete this well."

After their performance, VIVIZ Eunha said, "I looked at the audience after our performance and they were crying. Seeing that made me tear up as well. I didn't want to cry in front of our fans so I held my tears in."

Hyolyn later took the stage and performed SISTAR's iconic track "Touch My Body," giving nostalgic feelings to both her fans and competitors.
The rest of the performances for the first competition round will be broadcast next week on April 7 at 9:20 p.m. KST and the episode will be available on Viki.
