In the messages, News tells The Bs(THE BOYZ's fanbase) that they must challenge themselves to do the things they went. He then tells an anecdote about a friend who attended a good university but was jealous of New's life.
His messages read, "Not long ago, I was chatting with friends. Even a friend who ended up attending a good university told me how they could not do everything they wanted to do, so they are gathering the courage only to do it now."

New then spoke about how he took a courageous chance when he was young, saying, "However, for me, I took that courage at once when I was 19 years old. Seriously, the decision that took me not even 0.1 seconds to make had brought me to where I am now. My friend who came all the way here with me said that he was envious of me."

His messages have garnered backlash. The user who posted on Nate Pann called the male idol out for putting someone else's life down to make him feel better. They also stated that being an idol is not the epitome of success, and since he is someone who did not put any effort into attending university, he should not be speaking for others.

People have pointed out that New's way of thinking and talking has drawn backlash in the past. One user shared a screenshot of past Bubble messages, where New tells fans who subscribed to the service that he has more diverse experiences than them.

Another pointed out that when New was asked about the secret to THE BOYZ's growth, he replied that it was 100% their effort and that they put a lot of time into practice. However, co-member Ju Haknyeon replied that it is 99% due to their fans.

"I don't like that he brings other people down. I know his friend will probably not see this, but if they come across it by accident, he will be so hurt."
"I get what he is trying to say, but the way he says it is so vulgar. He is just bringing others down to raise himself up. He could have just said, 'As long as they are satisfied with their lives, that's what matters.'"
"I don't understand why he is always trying to act like a teacher."
"The way he is trying to emphasize 'good university' makes his message so transparent."
"Did this person get recruited as a BTS member? I would like to have at least half of his confidence."
