On Aug. 17, KQ Entertainment released an official statement through the official fan cafe of ATEEZ to announce that they have sued a YouTuber who recently uploaded a malicious video.

The label said:

"As of August 16, our company and our artist ATEEZ have begun legal proceedings against a YouTuber who recently published a malicious video on their channel on charges of violating the law on promoting the use of information and communication networks, insulting, obstructing business, and breaking copyright laws."

ATEEZ's agency continued that this YouTuber made a video spreading rumors as if the content is true and was able to make a profit through it. As the YouTuber has also affected ATEEZ's fans, the agency has decided to take strong legal action.

KQ Entertainment also warned other individuals who create malicious posts and make baseless claims. They stated:

"We ask that those who made unfounded claims and malicious posts against our artists delete their posts. There will be no lenience or cooperation as we pursue both civil and criminal liability in these cases in the future."

ATEEZ's agency concluded their statement by saying:

"KQ Entertainment will always work to protect our artists' rights and reputation. Please report any related evidence or documentation to the email address below (protectkq@gmail.com). Thank you."

Shortly after the label announced their legal action against a YouTuber, it was reported that the YouTuber being sued is the one who owns the "Sojang" YouTube channel.

The "Sojang" YouTube channel is infamous among K-pop fandoms and idol groups for making false allegations. It has been heavily criticized in the past for starting rumors about idols. NCT Jisung, NMIXX Sullyoon, and BTS members RM, V, and Jungkook are just a few of the artists the YouTuber targeted.

According to this article, the person behind the "Sojang" YouTube channel has been creating rumors since the first generation of K-pop. Prior to being active on YouTube, the netizen had been creating malicious posts on online communities and social media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter. It is believed that the YouTuber is a woman in her mid-to-late forties.
