On Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. KST, BLACKPINK made their highly-anticipated comeback with their second full-length album "BORN PINK," which contains the title song "Shut Down," their pre-release track "Pink Venom," and six additional b-sides.

"Shut Down" is a song that creatively combines the classic violin solo "La campanella" by Niccolò Paganini with the group's signature hip-hop sound. It was composed by TEDDY and 24, and the lyrics were written by TEDDY, Vince, and Danny Chung.
According to YG Entertainment, "Shut Down" is a song that opens a new horizon in BLACKPINK's music.

In an interview with XportsNews, Jennie described BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" as a track that takes the steady charisma BLACKPINK has showcased so far to the next level. She added, "The fusion of classic and trendy hip hop beats is more memorable and it has the charm of feeling new while also being very catchy."
Jennie further said that she thinks the sensible and witty lyrics and the point choreography that depicts "Shut Down" will become fun elements.

In the music video, BLACKPINK paid homage to their previous songs released in the past six years, such as "BOOMBAYAH," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Whistle," "Playing With Fire," and more.
During BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" MV premiere, the group drew an impressive total of 1.3 million live viewers.

Prior to the release of "BORN PINK," the quartet held a countdown live (which was pre-recorded), where they looked at the clips featuring the "Pink Venom" [Light Up The Pink campaign, played games, and showed the various editions of their "BORN PINK" album.
Moreover, the quartet mentioned their upcoming world tour "BORN PINK," detailing the cities they will visit, including the new places that weren't included in their previous tour. To wrap up the countdown live, the members read the message they each prepared for BLINK

Regarding the release of "BORN PINK," Jisoo excitedly said, "Since this is an album we worked on for a long period, I'm really excited and anticipating it. As so many people liked and enjoyed our pre-release song 'Pink Venom,' we were able to promote it enjoyably. Owing to that, we are able to make a comeback with happy nerves."

Reflecting on the album production process, Jennie shared, "Like always, working with my members was fun. Beginning from our concept meetings to our final recordings, new ideas keep on coming out. We were able to look more closely at each other's thoughts and emotions and deliver something from deep inside."
She further said that while the members were giving and receiving feedback to and from one another, she felt that the group shined the most when all four members were together.
