Rain's Past Remarks About Ciipher's Dating Ban Resurface Following Won & Dayeon's Rumors

Following the dating rumors involving Ciipher Won and Kep1er Kim Dayeon, Rain's past remarks about giving Ciipher a dating ban have resurfaced. Read on to learn what he said and how long the ban is.

Rain's Past Remarks About Ciipher's Dating Ban Resurface Following Won & Dayeon's Rumors

In an episode of SKY & SBS2's "Soo Mi's Mountain Cabin" released in March 2021, Rain was one of the guests along with Ciipher's Keita, Hyunbin, and Tan.

The topic of dating came up during the talk, and the Ciipher members revealed that they're under a dating ban post debut.

"We're not allowed to date for five years after our debut," the boys shared.

Rain then explained that he imposed a five-year dating ban on Ciipher after their debut because he believes that building careers was more important.

"If you want to remain as a star, you can date right away. But if you want to become an artist who climbs to the top, you don't have time to date right now."

He went on to describe just how competitive the industry is. "You can't last in the industry without going crazy. Even if you put everything into your work and music, there's no guarantee that you'll make it."

MC Kim Soomi then commented, "But you got both success and love," to which Rain replied, "Only when I reached my goal did I allow myself to lift the dating ban. I made my debut in the same year as Shinhwa in 1998. I suffered for four to five years. Every man has a height in his life. I have to endure it to wait for my chance."

He then turned to the three Ciipher members and stated, "I ban you guys from dating because I want you to focus on your work."

On Oct. 13, screenshots of this scene from the episode were uploaded to the online forum TheQoo.

Netizens who saw it commented:

"You can date or get caught. But don't make it obvious only on accounts that fans can see."

"Rain is not qualified to say things like that."

"When you're a rookie, you have to be careful until your career settles down."

If Ciipher does have a five-year dating ban, this means that Won broke this rule, as the group is just in their first year in the industry. (They debuted in March 2021).

Meanwhile, on Oct. 13, Kep1er Kim Dayeon and Ciipher Won were suspected of dating by fans because of some similarities in their social media posts. For instance, it seemed that they had visited the same places and worn similar clothes.

Later that day, both Dayeon's agency CJ ENM and Won's label Rain Company issued brief official statements to address the matter.

Rain Company said, "It is difficult to confirm [the rumor] because it's the artist's personal life," while CJ ENM stated, "Because this is a personal matter, it's difficult for us to give an answer."
