MTV EMA 2022 Winners - Which K-pop Artists Took Home Awards?

On Nov. 13 local time, MTV held this year's Europe Music Awards (EMA) in Düsseldorf, Germany. This marks the sixth time the award ceremony- which recognizes the best music of the year and the biggest artist across the globe- was hosted in the country.

BTS earned the award for Biggest Fans, which they also took home the previous year. Notably, they have won this accolade for five consecutive years, making them the first artist in history to do so.

BLACKPINK bagged the award for Best Metaverse Performance (for their PUBG Mobile in-game concert "The Virtual").

In their acceptance speech, the members said:

"Hi, this is BLACKPINK. We're so grateful to have won the EMA for Best Metaverse Performance this year. We have so much fun working on this project, and we're so happy that our fans enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you for all your support and we can't wait to see your place on BORN PINK tour."

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) is also one of the MTV EMA 2022 winners. They particularly won the award for Best Asia Act, marking their very first EMA award.

The boy group also sent a video message where they expressed their gratitude for the award. They said:

"Hello, we are TOMORROW X TOGETHER. We are entirely excited to be named MTV EMA's Best Asia Act of 2022. As always, we give thanks to our fans, MOA, for the support you've given us. This is a big achievement and we couldn't have done it without all of you. There are good things coming, so keep an eye out. Thank you, MTV EMA and love you, MOA!"

SEVENTEEN snagged two awards such as Best New Artist and Best Push (for the second consecutive year). They are the first Korean artist to take home Best New Artist, as well as the most awarded group at the award ceremony this year.

SEVENTEEN said:

"Hi, EMAs. We are SEVENTEEN. Thank you EMAs for this Best New title. This means a lot to us. We did a lot of touring, we met so many people around the world with new music and with this title added to the year, it'll be even more unforgettable. It feels like we're reaching somewhere new every day, places we never imagine we'd be. And we thank everyone for liking us all the way. Thank you again, and shout out to our Carats for always being there for us. Hope you have the best night ever. Thank you."

Finally, BLACKPINK Lisa received the award for Best K-pop. She stated, "Hi, this is Lisa. I'm so honored to have won the EMA for Best K-pop this year. Your support for 'LALISA' and our new album means so much to me. Enjoy the rest of the night and hope to see you at one of our shows on 'BORN PINK' tour."

MTV VMAs 2022 Winners: BTS, BLACKPINK, More Earn Awards

In related news, most of the K-pop artists who are MTV EMA 2022 winners previously won at the MTV VMAs 2022 as well.

This past August, MTV Video Music Awards 2022 took place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, and four Korean acts received awards.

In particular, the award for Best Metaverse Performance went to BLACKPINK for their PUBG collaboration "Ready for Love," while member Lisa won Best K-pop for her solo song "LALISA."

BTS was named Group of the Year for the fourth year in a row, while SEVENTEEN earned their first VMA award, which is Push Performance of the Year with "Rock with you."
