On Nov. 30, the second day of the 2022 MAMA Awards took place at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan once again. Hosted by Park Bo Gum, the awards ceremony tonight centered on giving the awards in the artist categories and genre categories.

BTS Makes History With Latest Wins at 2022 MAMA Awards

With their anthology album "Proof," BTS took home the Album of the Year award (Daesang) at the 2022 MAMA Awards. The septet also bagged another Daesang, which is the Artist of the Year award, marking their seventh consecutive year to receive this accolade.

On top of that, the 2022 MAMA Awards introduced a new award called MAMA Platinum, which is given to an artist who won all four grand prizes at once. This award was given to BTS as they swept all four daesangs in one single night for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021.

The awards ceremony described the boy group as "The one and only artist who created a global cultural phenomenon beyond K-pop, making a breakthrough in pop culture of the 21st century." Since MAMA Platinum is a new award, BTS is the very first artist to earn this.

With their latest grand prizes, the septet has extended their record as the artist with the most daesangs in history, having 70 overall. They also have extended their record as the artist with the most daesangs at MAMA Awards with 20 trophies to date.
