5 K-pop Songs Inspired From Classical Music: 'Awake,' Triangle,' More

Music does involve a lot of genres, and it's common in K-pop to deliver different styles of music. However, classical music is a renowned style for its impact throughout the ages. There are many times listeners would look for something different, in terms of sound or style.

With such distinct sound, K-pop fans are mostly surprised when classical music gets imbued in K-pop tracks. 

Without further ado, here are 5 K-pop songs that are classically inspired!

1. 'Awake' by BTS Jin

 

BTS Jin's solo track from the group's album WINGS, "Awake" exhibits some classical inspiration from a popular piece. According to fans, the song is influenced by the musical piece "Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude" from pianist Franz Liszt.

2. 'Tri-Angle' by TVXQ

 

TVXQ's "Tri-Angle" solidifies its usage of classical instruments, through being influenced by Mozart's "Symphony No. 40 in G minor."

In "Tri-Angle", the musical piece plays on the song's intro. Afterwards, TVXQ's concept mixes in with the classical instruments, blending in perfectly. The song then changes to a beat-driven song accompanied with electric guitar riffs.

3. 'Fantasy' by VIXX

 

"Fantasy" by VIXX displays accompaniment influenced from Beethoven's legendary piece "Moonlight Sonata." The song doesn't shy away on stirring VIXX's smooth vocals and rendition with the classical mix. With the song's sequence, it continues to fuse with "Moonlight Sonata" throughout its verses and pre-chorus.

4. 'I yAH!' by H.O.T.

 

"I yAH!" also joins this list due to its accompaniment of Mozart's "Symphony No. 25."

The symphony starts at the beginning of the song, and quickly catches up with the group's unique twist.

H.O.T. delivers a stellar performance on the song's verses, threading it with their rap skills and vocals. Afterwards, the chorus lets the members harmonizes along with the classical input.

5. 'T.O.P.' by Shinhwa

 

"T.O.P." by Shinhwa also incorporates classical music on its track. The song is influenced by Tchaikovsky's famous piece "Lake In The Moonlight."

Shinhwa mixes in the piece with the song's intro and background during the verses. Surprisingly, it was also fused on Shinhwa's rendition in the chorus, forming a wonderful combination between classical and hip-hop music.

Furthermore, "Lake In The Moonlight" is also popular for its usage on contemporary dances. It is also known as the overarching musical score for the film "Black Swan."
