When the video was posted, Teumes (fandom) immediately took to Haruto's defense, clarifying that the 9-second clip is not everything.

In particular, the short video was taken from a live broadcast of the group during their second debut anniversary celebration last year. After re-watching, Teumes then further explained the context of the clip.

In the live broadcast, Haruto was asked by Jihoon what kind of romantic comedy film he would like to act in after choosing the genre.

He was supposed to answer when the member suggested:

"BL?"

Haruto then replied that it wasn't a bad idea and referenced the "It's Okay, It's Friendship" bromance, a web drama that they did. This is when he said, "Between man and man is weird," and he was immediately stopped by the members as what he said might be misunderstood.

The male idol then immediately realized it and clarified that he doesn't dislike it, as long as "you're not crossing the line."

He then added:

"Yeah, I like it, I didn't say I dislike it."

Teumes explained that Haruto was implying that he's not against doing a BL drama between man and man, but on his personal preference, he wouldn't do something beyond bromance such as kissing and touching.

As the discussion continued, non-fans who came across the topic are still not satisfied with the fandom's explanation, stating that Teumes were trying to justify Haruto's remark of being not homophobic, but ended up intensifying the issue.

Netters emphasized how the explanation didn't clarify things, but instead made it worse, especially when Haruto said, "not crossing the line."

As a counterattack, Teumes continued that it was a personal preference and that people can't force someone to change their perception overnight.
