Dreamcatcher Yoohyeon Caught Holding Vape In Group's Vlog, InSomnia Reacts

On May 21, Yoohyeon of Dreamcatcher made buzz across online communities.

Dreamcatcher uploaded a video on their official YouTube channel, where it featured the girls on their promotions.

The vlog documented their U.S. Tour, "REASON: MAKES DREAMCATCHER 2023." Shortly after, the video was re-uploaded on May 13 for this reason.

After member Dami waved goodbye to fans for the Hi-Touch event, the scene transitioned on the 13:25 mark of the video, where the girls are seen relaxing on the waiting room. The original content reportedly contained a clip, where Yoohyeon was shown holding a white colored vape.

Twitter Error

This short clip scattered across the internet like wildfire, reaching out to an online forum where netizens discussed the matter. Majority weren't shocked with the videos at all since they admired Yoohyeon for living her life.

They even mentioned how vaping in the K-pop industry can now be considered as non-surprising, given the stressful energy regarding competition and performances.

Meanwhile, some offered objective judgement, stating that while there's no need to criticize Yoohyeon for her actions, that doesn't mean smoking should be encouraged in the forum. Fans even claimed the idea of Yoohyeon vaping perfectly fits Dreamcatcher's edgy rock concept.

Others were satisfied with most of the responses, since Yoohyeon's topic didn't involve double standards, given how many male idols were already caught smoking or vaping and received fair reactions.

Smoking has always been controversial in the K-pop industry. This is due to the certain standards of companies, who are strict on maintaining the well-being and public image of their artists.

Read their comments below:

"If I'm seeing Hannams all day everyday at fansigns, I'd start smoking too."

"If I was a struggling idol, of course I'd do it."

"I actually love strong women like her."

"She's an adult, who cares if she smokes or not, it's because of kids like you that they smoke."

"I mean let's not criticize and curse her for doing something that's literally legal. But let's also not encourage smoking like this comment."

"Smoking and vaping is dumb, but I can't blame an idol for taking it up as one of the very few vices they can even approach to have."

"I was going to throw hands saying how many male idols were caught smoking that and got normal responses. I'm glad she's getting the same reactions and not a double standard."

"Dreamcatcher and smoking in the same sentence aren't weird or crazy shocking to me, because they have this wild rock group image."
