International Moomoos Defend Hwasa: 'It looks like a homage to Britney Spears'

Amid criticism, international fans praised Hwasa's fashion and performance, pointing out that the idol apparently paid homage to Britney Spears' iconic "Baby One More Time" school uniform 'fit.

According to fans, Hwasa's stage costume resembled Spears' 'fit when the song's MV was released in 1999. This is one of the icon's representative songs and became a significant contribution to her "neighbor's sister" image and since then, a lot of local and foreign artists and fans have been paying homage to her.

However, netizens counterattacked. They said that the global star at the time was only 16; thus, what Hwasa did was still "inappropriate."

  • "Let's stop messing with minors' clothes."
  • "Those people saying, 'so what? she's paying homage to Britney" are sick. She also got so much hate back then. She was accused of sexualizing school uniform and igniting ped*philia."
