aespa Becomes 1st K-pop Girl Group to Exceed 1 Million First-Week Sales with 3 Releases in Hanteo History

On November 17, a Korean news outlet disclosed that aespa's newest mini album "Drama" had sold a total of 1,130,379 copies during its first week, which is from November 10 to 16.

This led aespa to become the first-ever K-pop girl group in Hanteo history to exceed 1 million copies of three different albums on each content's first week of release.

Prior to this achievement of "Drama," aespa had achieved the feat from previous albums "MY WORLD" (1.37 million) and "Girls" (1,126,068 copies).

Outside of Hanteo, "Drama" is also continuing its domination across music charts in China. On QQ Music and KuGou Music's digital album sales charts, the album secured the No. 1 spot, proving its successful release.

Moreover, its title track of the same name also claimed No. 1 on QQ Music's rising chart, as well as its music video chart.

MYs Express Thrill on aespa's Cinematic Music Video for 'Drama'

On November 10, shortly after the release of the "Drama" MV, the K-pop community experienced a surge of enthusiastic fans, who raved about aespa's explosive return to the music scene. This led netizens to establish a forum online and discuss the song.

Fandom MYs were ecstatic about the group's new music and even considered that "Drama" was aespa's strongest title track yet in their discography. They also praised the song for not over-mentioning Kwangya in the lyrics and for bringing back the iconic "SM bridge."

Here's how they reacted:

  •  "This song is aespa's strongest track. The concept, music video, everything was so well put. It also showed improvement in their performance and expressions."

aespa released "Drama" on November 10, alongside with the music video for its title track. The fourth mini album also contains other side tracks such as "Trick or Trick," "Don't Blink," "Hot Air Balloon," "YOLO," "You," and "Better Things."
