JY Park Under Fire for Recommending THIS Mental Health Advice to His Artists: 'This is just terrible'

J.Y. Park has met backlash from the K-pop community for sharing THIS mental health advice to his artists.

Here's what happened.

JY Park Criticized for Sharing 'Controversial' Approach Regarding Mental Health Struggles

On November 19, J.Y. Park appeared as a special guest on the YouTube program PSICK SHOW.

While J.Y. Park's appearance was indeed something worth anticipating, he caught everyone's bad end instead for one of his revelations during the episode.

The JYPE founder first shared his passion for performing and how he managed to find success in it. Hearing this, his thoughts were acknowledged by host Lee Young Joo, who was amazed by the healthy physical and mental states of JYP Entertainment artists.

J.Y. Park: "Back in the day, I was drug tested. So many cops came to me because they received that I was doing drugs because of the way I dance, like they'd never seen before, because I looked crazy."

J.Y. Park: "But I don't need drugs. I just go to this weird place when I'm on stage. When I see the audience and lights come in, I feel so free. I don't even get nervous at all. I love it and I can make money out of it? I would still do it even if I didn't become this successful."

Lee Young Joo: "Now I know why a lot of the JYP artists are healthy physically and mentally. You have a happy virus."

The founder then shared how his mood can affect the people around him, given that he's the leader of one of the biggest K-pop agencies. J.Y Park then shared how he recommended the same approach to his artists such as Stray Kids and TWICE.

J.Y Park: "Since I'm the leader of my company, if I look blue, gloomy, or depressed, then everyone around me would become uncomfortable. So even if I have worries, I have to make jokes, act silly, so everybody can be more comfortable."

J.Y. Park: "So that's why I tell my artists like Stray Kids, TWICE, I say to them, 'Okay, there can be a bad day. But if you look depressed, blue, and sad, you're going to make everybody uncomfortable. That's who we are.'"

J.Y. Park: "'Even though in our toughest days, we have to go make a joke, make sure you make everybody comfortable around you.' That's what I always tell our artists."

Fans were enraged with J.Y. Park's advice to his artists and claimed that mental health struggles are something to be taken seriously.

They also pointed out that his advice can inevitably push his artists to the brink of collapse since doing this approach can also ignore signs of mental exhaustion, which can lead to more indefinite hiatuses in the future.

Fans also mentioned ITZY Lia, who is currently on hiatus due to anxiety disorder.
