THIS Pre-Debut Group Is Gaining Popularity for Members' Unconventional Hairstyles: 'He ate this up!'

THIS rookie group is drawing massive attention for their hairstyles reminiscent of the 1st and 2nd-gen era!

How are K-pop fans reacting to it?

On December 9 and 10, the 2023 Genie Music Festival was held at KINTEX and was attended by an incredible artist lineup: Zico, Giriboy, I.M, Changmo, Big Naughty, Wonstein, and many more.

Among these top-tier soloists, a boy group who hasn't even debuted yet particularly attracted explosive reactions following their pre-debut stage, and this was due to the members' unique hairstyles!

DXMON Jo Brings Back K-pop to 1st/2nd-Gen Era With Unique Hairstyles

The boy group that has been the talk of the town is none other than the soon-to-debut DXMON (Daimon)!

During the festival, the sextet decorated the stage splendidly with their song "VIPER," which contains energetic lyrics written by the members themselves, and the pre-released "Burn Up."

On top of their performance, the group immediately became the crowd's favorite due to their interesting hairdos that stood out and made their first stage enjoyable.

While four of the members have ordinary hairstyles, two of them caught the viewers' eyes due to their vibrant hair colors.

Hee flaunted a long, neon blue hair while Jo, the youngest member, rose at the top of real-time trends on various social media platforms due to his bright red hedgehog hair!

Among the members, Jo is described as someone with a good sense of fashion and loves to dress up. The 15-year-old is loved by many for his cute acts, and for being a real mood-maker.

After uploading his selfie, it garnered over 5.5 million views on X with about 15k quotes.

Fans couldn't help but show high interest in him, especially older fans who were reminded by TVXQ Changmin's so-called "urchin hair."

According to K-pop fans, Jo's hair surely brought them back to the embarrassing yet legendary hairstyles of boy groups from the first and second-gen K-pop eras.

Fans were delighted seeing his hairstyle and wrote comments on SNS, such as:

  • "More punk hairstyles in K-pop please."
  • "Goku is that you?"
  • "This goes so hard, I respect him."
  • "Jo, you're so iconic for doing this. F**k the haters."
  • "He kinda ate this."
  • "No, because I really need to see K-pop being silly and fun again cause I'm tired of seeing everyone's boring looks covered in luxury brands and dark hair."
  • "Am I witnessing K-pop going back to its roots? He ate this up!"
  • "People who hate this wouldn't have lasted a day in 2012 kpop."
  • This is so knuckles coded."

However, some raised their brows at his style, claiming that the company is exploiting him for noise marketing and "forcing" him to do such a 'do although he is a minor (he was born in 2008).

  • "It's hard to be an idol."
  • "No, but why?"
  • "The members have become scapegoats for group noise marketing tactics to attract trolls."
  • "It seems like a punishment to me."
  • "Who says this is a good hairstyle for a 15-year-old boy? So much hate."

DXMON to Debut in 2024

Meanwhile, DXMON is set to debut sometime in January 2024 under NV Entertainment, home to Woo! Ah!.

The group is comprised of members Minjae, Seita, Hee, TK, Rex, and Jo, and they made their pre-debut stage on the opening stage of the 2023 Genie Music Festival at KINTEX, meeting fans before their official launch.
