RIIZE Garners Criticism for Greeting Sunbae 'Rudely'

On January 17, 2024, a post titled "RIIZE seems pretty mannerless" was uploaded to a popular South Korean online community forum.

The author of the post uploaded a GIF of the RIIZE members greeting senior artist (sunbae) Yoon Sang, who also happens to be the father of RIIZE member Anton.

Upon seeing their senior, the members of RIIZE are seen greeting Yoon Sang by slightly lowering their heads and saying hello in a formal way.

This action has drawn criticism from internet users. The author claimed it does not matter if Yoon Sang is Anton's dad; he is still a well-respected sunbae in the industry, so it is not sufficient that they are just lowering their heads in greeting.

In particular, Eunseok and Wonbin gathered the most flak. As they are Korean members, they should know how to greet their senior artists in a respectful manner.

On the other hand, Shotaro garnered some praise. Though he did not bow his head, he was seen putting his hands together and looking courteous.

Many who saw the post agreed with the author. People mentioned another instance during the 2023 Gayo Daejejeon, when RIIZE was seen greeting Yoon Sang. The boys were seen simply tilting their heads down, while Yoon Sang gave a deeper bow.

Anton did not bow, but people understood because that is his father. However, people claim the other RIIZE members should have been more respectful.

Even Korean BRIIZE's are calling the group out, saying that they deserve the criticism and should learn.

• "The fans should not blindly shield them. I am also a BRIIZE, but I also think the way they greet is wrong. I hope the kids learn and fix themselves."
