In episode three of "Nana Tour with Seventen," the group toured around Tuscany, Italy. Mingyu, The8, and Na PD split from the rest of the group to have lunch at a famous restaurant. Here, Mingyu looked back at the time when he first joined as a trainee. Mingyu was just 15 years old and was a high school student when he first signed with the agency. At that time, Mingyu's mother was one of the reasons that he chose to become an idol trainee.
Now, the reason why she wanted him to be a trainee has surprised fans.

Mingyu, like other teenagers, underwent a rebellious phase. It was revealed that it got so bad that while Mingyu was in middle school, his mother went to church and prayed for someone else to raise her child. Just a week after she went to church and prayed, Mingyu was scouted by Pledis Entertainment to join the label as a trainee. Mingyu's mother's prayer has been answered!
"When I was 15, I went through a rebellious phase. My mom worked really hard to raise me. She told me she went to church to pray for someone else to raise me in her place. A week later, I was recommended to be a trainee, and Pledis raised me. I was put into my place immediately. I missed my mother and realized how precious she is to me."

Despite going through a rebellious phase that left his mother feeling helpless, Mingyu was able to shape up when he joined SEVENTEEN.
