The idol's military enlistment started when HYBE Labels shared Jin's cancellation of his military postponement on October 13, 2022.

On December 6, BIGHIT MUSIC released the following statement:

"Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC.

We would like to express our gratitude to those who support BTS and would like to give out new information regarding Jin's upcoming military enlistment. Jin will be enlisting in the army to complete the required time and no official events will be held on the recruitment date.

Military personnel and recruits' families are the only ones allowed to observe the entrance ceremony. We kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting the site, since this is to prevent any crowding. To offer support, we ask you to keep your kind words in your hearts.

We would also like to advise you not to purchase unauthorized tours or products that are illegally using the IP of our artist. Such usage will be taken seriously with legal action from our company.

We ask for your love and support for Jin until his return from the military. The agency will do its best in providing support for Jin during his service."

This was then trailed by procedures of his enlistment, amid the debate regarding BTS's exemption due to their immense contribution to South Korea's economy. Ultimately, Jin enlisted on December 13, 2022, to train under the 5th Infantry Division.

Throughout numerous updates, various content featuring Jin inside the base camp has trended in online communities.

On March 4, Jin made a post on platform Weverse, indicating a countdown for his discharge date. According to the post, the signer simply relayed the caption, "D-100," meaning that he currently has 100 days on his timeframe before he finishes his military service.

Jin's enlistment began on December 13, 2022, and with the 100-day countdown starting on March 4, 2024, this only concludes that the discharge date would be on June 12, 2024. 

Ever since his enlistment in December 2022, Jin has continuously garnered the attention of the K-pop community and ARMY fandom for his excellence in the military. Throughout his ongoing service, the idol made trends on social media for his determination and resolve.

Since ARMYs have received a countdown of 100 days from the vocalist, they are also given a glimmer of hope regarding Jin's exciting return to the K-pop industry after finishing his duty.
