RIIZE Accused of 'Copying' NewJeans' Filming Location, BRIIZEs Step Up to Defend Group

On March 18, netters flocked to an online forum titled, "RIIZE is copying NewJeans again lol."

The thread, which garnered 180 plus upvotes, called the attention of critics online. According to the post, the author uploaded two screenshots, featuring NewJeans and RIIZE having filmed both of their music videos in Portugal.

In 2023, a behind-the-scenes clip of NewJeans filming in the location went viral. The result, being the official clip, was later used to promote the choreography for "Super Shy."  

"NewJeans went to Portugal to shoot their new music video and RIIZE also went to Portugal to shoot theirs," OP remarked.

The comments section was full of netizens, who brought out RIIZE's similarities with NewJeans in the past.

This includes resemblances to their logos, fashion, cinematography, concept, and official website. They then called out BRIIZEs for always "refuting" the plagiarism accusations made against RIIZE. 

• "If they're able to copy Ditto, they're able to copy Super Shy alright."
• "For real, at this point, their fans have to look at them and acknowledge that it's not the first or second time, why are they always refuting this?"
• "Of course, they're from SM."
• "Wow, seriously, from Memories to Love 119."

Some stated that while NewJeans isn't the first group to film an MV in Portugal, they claimed that RIIZE's marketing strategy and social media "push" were way too identical to the girl group.

One fan elaborated:

"We're not claiming that NewJeans was the first one to have shot in Lisbon, Portugal and that they have appeared in the local newspapers. It's because RIIZE always uses the exact same way NewJeans advertises themselves and uses them as a benchmarking point.

They had highly similar elements between Ditto and Love 119, that they use the same designer as NewJeans, and that they have talks about them being similar ever since debut.

It's not just about shooting in front of a rogue in Lisbon, but even the way they're even using the same promotional TikTok with the same angle to try to make them go viral in the same way."
