On March 25, Kwon Nara, former Hello Venus member turned actress, appeared on the recent episode of the YouTube show, "Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup."

On this day, she looked back on her active days as a K-pop star, and reminisced the time she and her co-members purposely disobeyed their company's rules.

Kwon Nara Shares How She Survived Hunger Amid Strict Diet Rules

Hello Venus debuted in 2012, which was the time when companies were still very strict in terms of training system.

Contrary to the healthy dietary plan that labels proposed to their idols and trainees in this current K-pop era, the early 2000s to 2010s were a time when idols had to do extreme and dangerous diets to lose weight, even if it meant starving.

Kwon Nara then revealed how they were able to survive hunger.

"We lived in a dorm with the manager. One day, while on a diet, we craved chicken. Since there are six of us, we consult with the manager about our concerns one by one, and the remaining members prepare to eat chicken."

She continued:

"When we went out in separate cars, the rest brought the chicken they had ordered in advance and ate it first. The friend who consulted with the manager shed tears during the consultation and came back on time after reading the message we sent. The friend who came back ate chicken with a candle lit while the manager was washing."

Hello Venus Prohibited By Label To Do Anything After They Were Caught Going to Club, Hiding Phones

Another restriction among idols at the time that was practiced since their trainee days was them going to clubs and using a phone.

However, Hello Venus also went against it.

When four of them became adults, they decided to sneak out and go to a club in Gangnam.

"That was our first clubbing. Four adults went to a club because a member said she would take us there. But isn't it weird if only people stayed in the room? So the six members lied and asked for permission that we want to go to the sauna. 'We'll go to the public bathhouse. but the four (adult) members went to the club and had fun, while the two minor members went to the sauna and played."

At the time, they brought their hidden phones, after their real phones were taken away due to the restriction. However, their happiness didn't last long as due to a careless mistake. They were later on caught by their manager.

Kwon Nara explained how they were caught.

"Because our phones were taken away, we secretly brought a second phone. We were taking pictures and drinking, thinking, 'Wow, this is a club,' but one of our friends left the phone in the manager's car. They caught us secretly having a second phone."

As a punishment, their second phone was confiscated again, and the label also banned them from doing anything, not to mention that they were not allowed to go to the practice room for a week.

Despite that Kwon Nara still thinks that it was a good memory for her.
