May Hong, known for voicing Mira in Netflix's record-breaking animated film "K-Pop Demon Hunters," has joined the cast of the upcoming horror thriller "Perfect Girl."
The casting marks a reunion between Hong and her co-star Arden Cho, who voices the character Rumi in the Netflix production.
The film, characterized as a blend of "Scream" and "Black Swan," follows a newly formed K-pop supergroup preparing for their debut with only four available positions and the final selection occurring within a week. Tension escalates when a talented and mysterious newcomer arrives unexpectedly, triggering disturbing events as members begin disappearing one by one. The central plot focuses on uncovering the identity of those responsible while determining who will ultimately secure a place in the final lineup.
Directed by Hong Won-ki, founder of Korean production company Zanybros, "Perfect Girl" features a screenplay by Lynn Q. Yu that made the 2023 Black List. The expanding cast also includes Adeline Rudolph, best known for "Resident Evil," actor John Kim from "Cruel Intentions," and international K-pop sensation Jeon Somi, making her acting debut.

Production launched in Thailand as of late October and continues currently, with the project involving major production companies including Badlands, Thunder Road, and Desert Bloom. The film will incorporate six original songs, with K-pop star Jeon Somi contributing a new track through The Black Label, the same company that produced the "K-Pop Demon Hunters" soundtrack. International sales are being managed by Upgrade, with CAA Media Finance overseeing domestic arrangements.
Producer Scott Strauss expressed confidence in the project's vision, noting that director Hong has assembled an international ensemble cast to realize his horror concept within the K-pop universe. The production represents a significant collaboration between established entertainment figures and emerging talent, positioning "Perfect Girl" as a notable addition to the growing intersection of K-pop content and horror cinema.
